What a fantastic job Atrévete has done transforming this beautiful building into one of the best cafes in Aurora. I am really impressed with how much space there is and the variety of seating available. Whether you want to set up to get some studying/work done, meet for a one-on-one, or get together with a big group there is no shortage of places to take your coffee and/or foods while enjoying all of the sunlight coming through the windows and the accents of well-curated greenery throughout. I was already a big fan of several of their offerings so I was happy to see that the menu is not far removed from what is available at the original Atrévete with all the amazing cheesecakes and croissants and I even spotted some new things too like the sandwiches. I came in on a Saturday afternoon in the mood for a pickmeup and something savory so I opted for their croque madame. Staff were friendly and the service time was quick. The interior was warm and inviting and mood was elevated with the good music playing too. When it came to the caffeine I was going to just get the usual iced Mexican mocha but noticed a sign by the register that pumpkin lattes were buy one get one free for the weekend and it was too good a deal to pass up. We thoroughly enjoyed splitting the pastry and the coffees and I am sure that I will be making my way back here often. I had a such a good experience that I stopped by again a few days later for that iced Mexican mocha and a delicious cherry danish too!

I have been to Cafe 1888 a few times since they opened and it has been DELICIOUS Every. Single. Time. It’s a lovely historical building with the main space being the cafe and lots of rooms around the cafe that are great for small gatherings or business meetings. They have a very chill vibe and are totally accepting of everyone who walks in. The decor is adorable and changes with the seasons. But the FOOD - the food is amazing!!! All of the soups are delicious, the sandwiches are decadent and huge, and the desserts are all just YUM! I highly recommend giving Cafe 1888 a try - especially for lunch. And if you’re a coffee drinker (I’m not), I’ve heard their coffees are also amazing (and they have a very fancy machine to make all kinds of coffees) to go with the lovely breakfast pastries.

This new place is located in a historic building built in 1888, hence the name. For this reason they are not allowed a sign on the building. Never fear it is easily accessible and the building can be seen from Lincoln hwy. The inside is beautifully done in white and has a very clean look. We had the blueberry and the cranberry almond scones along with some lattes. Both scones were exceptional. The scones were fresh and not overly sugared. I recommend the dirty chai, chai tea with 2 shots of espresso. Our other latte was a vanilla bean latte. These drinks were hand crafted and nothing seemed rushed. Also there was a nice amount of seating if you care to dine in.

My family and I have been enjoying the AtrĂ©vete in Montgomery for many years now. We decided to try this new location in Aurora today and found the same good coffee and treats. What was very different, was the fact that they had the only thing that Montgomery is lacking, space. There is so much seating, you can find a little corner to have a conversation with your friends or family without feeling like you’re being rude or being listened to. I feel like I have found a coffee shop like we all used to enjoy in the past. I will swing into the Montgomery location if I need something to go, but will enjoy the Aurora location when I need that old school coffee...
