Ordered delivery & got 2 half & half's, Yam fries & the potato cakes. Everything was excellent, portions were huge & they are heavy on the meat(pork) The containers the (delivery) food came in were nice, kept the food hot & held up very well when I reheated it the next day in the microwave. I couldn’t finish the half & half because of the large portions yet it is just as good reheated. The half & half reminds me of Polynesian food I have eaten in the South Pacific region of Oceana. The potato cakes tasted like what I have eaten at a polish restaurants before yet these were better. I ordered the 7 piece which could be a meal in its self. The Yam fries are also great being sweet, perfectly cooked & salted. $17:00 for a great meal (plus appetizers) that you can enjoy twice was a great deal for me & will be trying everything else on the menu from this unique restaurant very soon. I noticed also have dairy free & Vegan dishes which also look good. I don’t leave many 5 stars yet this place...
Read moreI wish I waited long enough to take a picture. I was coming here since I heard it was new and didn't know what to expect. I did recognize the name from a food truck that I had eaten several months back, but didn't realize that they have now upgraded to a brick and mortar location. ANYWAY, well, the food is just as good, if not better! I ordered the Vegetarian option, a chicken option and the steak. STRAIGHT UP, the taste, texture, and smell combined in such way that it stimulated my appetite. I ended up opening the other two containers (dinner and lunch for the next day) and started my own smorgasbord right on their indoor tables. I was a perfect treat of personal time after one hell of a long week. I hope they have a bonus program - purchase 10 and get a discount on the 11th - because I'll be back often. The fact that they opened during a pandemic speaks volumes about their tenacity to get good eats to the people who are in real need of some comfort. Peace and...
Read moreI've been a fan of Crock Spot's food truck for a long time. Today I finally visited the new Sunnyside location on Pecos Street to pick up a bowl for lunch. The new location looks great and has both indoor and outdoor seating. It was nice to get out of the home office and get some midday sunshine. As a vegetarian, Crock Spot has always provided me with thoughtful meatless options. I got the Sunshine Bowl and...oh my god...soooo good. The avocado velvet sauce was an incredible pairing with the curry and root veggie mix over quinoa. These bowls are hearty, so come hungry. I was stuffed well before I finished the bowl, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating until it was gone. They have some killer signature dishes and you can also build your own bowl. I didn't get it this time, but the Sriracha sour cream sauce is amazing. And, if you like spice, try Esteban's Yucatan Fire. Damn right, it's good. Crock Spot, I will see...
