Beware of this place!! I come here all the time and after my experience this weekend and today, I will no longer visit. THEY SCAM PEOPLE WHO USE CREDIT CARDS.
This weekend I had a big order and I went in ahead to make sure I knew how long it would take for a bigger order. They guaranteed me 10-15 minutes. I placed a larger order appropriately should have cost around $65-$70. I got there in 15 minutes they said it's done. I was surprised so I asked how long would it take if I order crab Rangoon. The lady said 3 minutes. I said ah it's okay I don't need them. She said it will be quick don't worry. I caved and said yes I'll order as long as it will only take 3 minutes because I need to go asap. I waited addition 20 minutes. I was upset that they would lie. I wanted to say forget it but lady never came back out. After it was all said and done, there credit card machine wasn't working and they swiped my card so many times they locked out my card. I then had to proceed to pay a different way which I did not want to. Then they charged me $85. I didn't question it even tho it seemed hirer than I expected. After I got my food, I kindly told them that it was okay to tell someone it would take longer than it actually would. The lady then started to yell at me and said it was my fault it took so long since I order the crab Rangoon. I told her that I was advised it would only take 3 minutes. She just kept on saying "it's you fault sir it's your fault sir!" I let it go and just asked is she 100% sure it's all there and she said yes she put it all in so I quickly left since I was already really late.
When I got there, I was missing my rice. The biggest part of the dish. I didn't know this information until later in the evening since no one told me it was missing. The didn't know it was missing because I placed the order and they just thought I may have forgotten to order rice. I noticed they never gave me a detailed receipt. So I didn't want to accuse them for charging me for something I didn't receive.
I went to visit them today to Get a copy of my receipt. They printed out a copy for me and I was in fact charged for the rice but I then also Noticed I was charged an additional $5 different from what my credit card total was. I question this and she just started to yell at me. She said we didn't over charger you and she said she would pull the credit card receipt from the weekend. An older couple walked in to sit down. The lady proceeded to walk over to them to tell them I was trying to steal from her. This really upset me. She finally found the receipt and she then saw I was charged more than I should have. She then started to blame me for ordering crab Rangoon and that's why it was different. I looked at the detail receipt she provided and it showed i was charged. She then tried taking the receipt from me and stated that she wouldn't give me a refund for my missing item or for being over charged until I gave her the receipt that proved she was scamming me. I took a pic of the receipt witout her knowledge and said I'd give it back to her. She told me to shred it and I said no. She said she wasnt going to give me my money back until I shredded it or gave it back to her. So I gave it back to her she gave me cash back. I then told her that it wasn't right that you would do this to me or any customers and showed her I took a picture of the receipt scam she had going. She begged for me to not leave. I left, writing multiple reviews and will be reporting this...
Read moreGolden Sea used to be the best Chinese restaurant around. I've been going there since I was a kid back in the early 90s. I grew up a few blocks from there. I now live on the west side of Aurora and have made the trek across town to Golden Sea for years because even though there are closer Chinese restaurants, none of them compared to Golden Sea. Well unfortunately the original owners recently retired and new owners took over. I had ordered from there several months back under the new ownership and the food was still as good as always, but yesterday that wasn't the case. The new owners must have changed something. They either changed to new food suppliers or new recipes or new cooks.
I can't say the whole experience was bad. It was still somewhat decent. Just nowhere on the level that it used to be. The lady who took my order over the phone was pleasant. My order was ready for pickup when promised. The order was correct and the food was warm. I almost always get the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken still seemed to be ok, but they definitely changed the sweet and sour sauce. It was kind of bland and watery. The fried rice was also different. They used to have small pieces of pork in it. Now they changed to beef which was chewy and gross. My wife said her egg drop soup was bland. She also said her sesame chicken tasted different. She didn't like it. The fried wontons and beef teriyaki sticks were still good. I hate to say it, but I may not be going back to Golden Sea anytime soon.
I hope the new owners read these reviews and realize that something needs to change. The original owners had something special. They had perfected all of the items on their menu. It would do the new owners good to go back to the original recipes. If possible, it would be smart for them to consult with the original owners about what worked so well for them for so many years. If not, then maybe they should change the name of the restaurant because this definitely isn't the Golden Sea restaurant that my family and I have...
Read moreHorrible! My husband and I decided to try this place out for the first time after passing by it a few times. The owners were nice enough, but everything we got was super bland and tasteless. I got the Mongolian beef, vegetable fried rice, and vegetable egg rolls. I couldn't even manage a full bite of the Mongolian beef, it was seriously disgusting. My husband compared it to bad Salisbury steak. He got the Orange chicken and crab Rangoon, he said it was all totally bland and the Orange chicken didn't even have a hint of Orange flavor. The crab Rangoon were large and plentiful, but still unappealing and tasteless. I threw out my meal, except for the egg rolls, which were bland but edible with soy sauce. $27 down the drain for a meal that neither of us got to enjoy, we will not be making that mistake again!!! Save your money and have a peanut butter sandwich instead, I promise you that you'll be much more satisfied then eating at...
