Paik's Noodle, otherwise known as Hong Kong Banjum, has arrived and what a welcome it is. I've been to this franchise in other states, mainly in Los Angeles and when I heard a location was opening right here in Aurora, I was ecstatic and scared at the same time due to other famous franchises opening in Colorado and falling short of expectations. But, fear not! This location lives up to their name and reputation.
You'll enter into an open dining hall and a welcome, vibrant setting with beautiful decor and some frames of the history of the franchise. It's nice to look at and ponder over while briefly waiting for service. The restaurant is clean cut and modern (it is brand new after all), but it's well cleaned and seeing how the staff bussed the tables gave me assurance of their cleanliness. The staff are friendly and working out some kinks as all new restaurants do at first, but service was great and welcoming.
Let's move on to the cuisine. We ordered the Gochu Jjampong, Tangsuyuk, and Jaengban Jajang. If you're a lover of spice, the Gochu Jjampong is the way to go. The broth was very spicy, but so savory and was seasoned so well. The seafood inside wasn't over done and still held a great consistency and taste. The noodles are arguably the most important aspect of the dish and it was pulled and cooked perfectly. It didn't break apart, it wasn't too stringy, and absorbed just the right amount of broth to pack it with flavor. The Tangsuyuk was fried to perfection. Beautifully crispy on the inside and juicy and fluffy in the middle. Nothing to argue about how amazing each piece was. The sauce wasn't too tangy or overpoweringly sweet either. Paired great with each other. The Jaengban Jajang is a shareable dish and brought everything this restaurant stands for all together. The ever-so slightly charred flavor from the wok, the mastered noodles, and perfectly seasoned sauce with the stir fry of all the ingredients gave the final dish a unique and delicious flavor, texture, and consistency.
So where are we? 1 out of 1 star for ambience. 1 out of 1 star for cleanliness. 1 out of 1 star for customer service. 2 out of 2 stars for food. With that, cheers everyone....
Read moreI have been driving by this place on my way to here and there and every time I drive by I think to myself, I should try that place!
Well tonight was the night and I am so glad I did. The kids are at choir and the Hubby is working late, so I am all alone with this plate. I had their most popular Noodle Dish. Jaengban-jjajang.
What a perfect night for slurpy saucy noodles: A little over cast and dreary. In here the flavors are bursting. The portion size is generous enough to be shared by 2, but I am kind of down right now. Something I was excited about didn’t pan out. The world has gone insane. So tonight I am face first in a pile of the most delicious noodles I have had in a really long time. You only live once! In the words of a long lost friend, David Vincent Francis Dominique Desantis (Italian Catholic from NY): Eat the world before it eats you! Working on that, Dave! 🫣🤭😆
The noodles are made in house and hand cut and that I absolutely love! Nothing compares to fresh noodles! They’re drenched in a delicious black bean sauce that is just spicy enough to leave warming tingles on your lips, almost like being kissed, but shouldn’t kick back later. Recommend bringing a date and enjoying this place together!
No bite goes with out a bit of seafood or pork and there are even some veggies, so you can skate by calling it a complete meal!
Just Bless all the people who feed us their love and culture through the wonderful foods they prepare!
Served with Picked Daikon, Extra Black Bean Paste and some fresh onions on the side. You can’t go wrong with this one! I see some more visits in the near future!!! Also, this place has an attribute that Hubby and I look for in any Asian cuisine establisment… A mostly Asian clientele. That is kind of our Litmus Test for whether the place has some authenticity. We always like to look for the local and authentic, so we can support small business owners (we’re snobby like that)!!
I didn’t expect to eat the whole thing, but here we are. Come on out Greater Denver area and show this Noodle House...
Read moreUpdate July 2024 With increase cost in recent year, there are going to some impact of every restaurant. Specially the high cost of the Jajang sauce, so it was not surprise the Jaengban Jajang wasn't as heavy in sauce as before. The taste still good and Taiwanese cabbage replaced onion. It is still my favorite and still enough to feed two. Might want to tone down a bit on spiceness. Added the photo of how the current dish looked.
Update Aug 2023: The Jaengban Jajang really is their best dish in my opinion after tasted some other dishes here and around the town, the sea food dry Jajang from the two chopsticks was the only close to beat it but haven't been match since material cost went up. The raw sauce cost had raised so much that most place have added other thing while dilute the black bean paste which is the essence of the noodle. My whole family agree this assessment. We drive across town just for it.
By the way the sweet and sour pork can be ordered with sauce seprated and control how much you want use. This way the pork is very crispy till you eat it. It actually taste better with Jajang sauce!!! Try it. This new venue is new on the northeast corner of Peoria and Iliff.
Paid is a celebrated cook in Korea with lot of restaurants and many TV show. It's refreshing to see one of his venues show up in Colorado.
Wasn't sure what to expect, however the taste was very good. Jaengban Jajang is highly recommended if you like black jjajang The favor is well balanced, added spicy favor adds a bit more depth to it, the use of baby corn, pea, and Orion instead of sugars plus the just right noodles. If the cook had hold off the time the squid been cooked, it would be better. The overcooked squid made the squid way to tough, dry, and hard to eat.
Need to come back again try other items like jjamppong(spi y sea food noodle), Tangsuyuk( sweet and sour pork, they give you sour aside so the pork remain crispy, and you control the amount want to dip in)
Clean and simple, not the fancy setup, but again it's the food...
