I found this bakery while searching for a vegan birthday cake in Austin. I odered a cake via email for my daughters sweet sixteen birthday party. We were coming into Austin from out of town and trying to coordinate the birthday celebration from our city, to take place in Austin. The Communication was clear and so prompt the entire process. We were stuck in traffic when we arrived in town and it wasn’t a problem picking up our cake even though we were late getting there. She notified that cake would be kept cool in a locked cooler that we could pick up cake from when we got to town. It was so convenient to not have to worry about picking up the cake late. The cake was exactly what I had envisioned and I had shared some inspo pics with her of what I wanted. I was impressed with how well she nailed exactly what I wanted. I pre paid online with an invoice so the pickup was completely contactless which is so nice during covid times. She even gave me advice on what kind of candles to get to best match the cake. Not only was it beautiful but it was the absolutely one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever had!!! My daughter is vegan so it’s hard sometimes to find something for her that actually tastes good when it comes to bakery items. We were all so amazed by how delicious this cake was!!! Super moist chocolate cake, that had perfect texture and light home made frosting on top that wasn’t over powering or too sugary. This cake tasted amazing!!!! The flavors and textures, consistency, were so perfect in every way!! My daughter doesn’t really even like cake and she asked me if I could get the recipe for this cake lol. We all loved it so much we ate it again the next morning with our coffee! 10/10 would order a cake from this all vegan bakery again, and will recommend to anyone vegan or not!! While planning my 10 year old's birthday party, I wanted to be sure to take into consideration all of her friends dietary needs so that everyone felt included. Two of her friends are vegan and, my daughter and I often eat vegan desserts to steer clear of dairy, mostly. I Google searched "vegan bakers near me" and a Yelp! page listing the top vegan bakers in Austin came up. I clicked the link and scrolled through and found Kind Cakes. Initially, the name of her business is what caught my eye - Kind Cakes, just love it!. When I visited her webpage, I was very impressed with how her cakes and cupcakes looked - sophisticated and delicious! And, whenever possible, I love to support local, female entrepreneurs. It seemed that Kind Cakes (Krystal Meyer) was a perfect choice. I ordered a special gourmet strawberry rainbow cake for my daughter and her friends along with 1 dozen mini cupcakes for the adults that would be attending the party. I was blown away by her creativity and the quality of the cake and the cupcakes. Krystal is an amazing gourmet vegan baker. The cake was incredibly moist, the icing was thick and "buttery," the strawberry flavor was subtle and natural, and the cost for such a high quality specialty was incredibly (shockingly!) affordable. The cake and the cupcakes were a huge hit - no leftovers at all! - and I believe Krystal may have even converted some non-vegan folks to, at least, vegan desserts! My daughter is the baker among us, and always bakes great desserts for every friend and family occasion. So she deserved a special cake for her birthday, baked by somebody else. She's been vegan for decades, so Krystal at Austin Kind Cakes was the perfect Somebody Else. There would be just four of us at the party, with four different favorites. So I ordered two dozen mini cupcakes, six each of four flavors. Each was uniquely decorated. Perfect little cakes. Of course everybody loved all four options. And my vegan was so delighted that she could enjoy every choice. She said it was like getting two boxes of assorted chocolates -- something she could never trust since she became vegan -- but then finding out that they were ALL "kind" and all GOOD.
