I live way out in Dripping Springs , so don't often have opportunity to visit Bella Donna. However, over the years, ANY TIME my day takes me to the Burleson Industrial area, I always make it a point to be there around lunch time to take advantage of Bella Donna.
Thus, over time, I've no doubt been a B.D. customer at least 30 times. IN EVERY VISIT, I have experienced nothing but the highest excellence in all aspects.. Incredible sandwiches, unlike any you'll find elsewhere in Austin; friendly service; and prompt, always-prepared-to-order food. Yes, it DOES take longer to get your order at McDonald's since every meal is prepared from scratch, not just slapped together from a pile of burger patties.
Admittedly, I've found myself in a rut, unable to bring myself to try an alternative to my own personal favorite.. "Yenta's Overstuffed Pastrami" OMG, what a wonderful sandwich, and I've never been disappointed.
Fortunately, a reader of these reviews will most certainly overlook the handful of whiner reviews in favor of the 98% 5 star reviews from hundreds of satisfied and repeat customers.
And to the lazy a$$ who whined about shortage of parking.. Duh, a full parking lot is evidence of the popularity of this place every day at lunch. And, there is more than ample parking within 50 yards of the front door if one desires.
If Bella Donna were located up in the Domain, no doubt prices would be in the $20 range, and there would STILL be lines out the door every day. As it is, the patrons of the Burleson Road corridor are the lucky recipients of the best sandwich and deli joint in the...
Read moreI recently started working within a mile of this place and finally decided to look them up after driving past and being curious.
The menu alone is tempting. They've got a variety of subs, both hot and cold, as well as wraps, pasta, burgers, and other deli items. The prices are also exceptionally fair. While it's not cheap, Bella Donna has managed to control costs to keep the prices comparable to a lot of other places with less impressive food. And despite having a huge menu and long lines, you can easily eat here (and probably have time to spare) during your lunch hour.
I've been two days in a row and tried two different dishes. I've had spaghetti and meatballs as well as their chicken parmesan sub. Both show a mastery of marinara sauce, melted mozzarella, and bread that many Italian restaurants in Austin could learn from. When I had the sub, I upgraded to a combo with chips, a drink, and a homemade cookie. The chocolate chip cookie was the perfect finale to lunch.
This is definitely in the lunch rotation for me and with the scope of their menu, I won't get...
Read moreLived in Austin 17 years and never been here before. Drove by many times but it looked crappy from the outside. Should have trusted that impression. I Googled NY Delis in Austin and this place came up so decided to give it a try. THIS IS NOT A NY DELI. I ordered the 2 pushcart dogs - one was bread, dog and sauerkraut - the other one was bread, dog and chili... (I was not asked if I wanted to add things like cheese or onions) The bun was soggy and neither one of them had any flavor. I also ordered a Ruben - bread was stale marble rye, sandwich was thin and barely passable. Completely disappointed in this place and will not go back. They also pack to-go orders in tin foil (any idiot knows that makes bread soggy in just a minute) then inside a big Styrofoam box - why not just wrap them in wax paper and put them in a paper bag? I'm giving this place 1 star because the service was acceptable. Not good. But acceptable. Also - they are only open until 3:30 or 4:30 in the afternoon......
