I want to give the owner of this place the absolute biggest hug today. I have a unique experience eating out, that I think increasing numbers of people (especially younger generations) are going to start having.
For the past five years I increasingly haven't been able eat out at even health restaurants without significant blow back to my health. Eventually I was diagnosed earlier this year with severe leaky gut. Non-organic foods, seed oils, and processed anything (which is 99% of restaurant food) is really hard on my system and I rarely eat out anymore.
Last night my family met some friends at Meanwhile and I was uniquely starving. I hadn't eaten most of the day and I was having an existential crisis about it. It often feels unfair that everyone else can eat out without paying for it. Even traditional grain and non-organic produce throws me into a few days of feeling awful. Our friends were raving about the Side Eye pies, and In a stubborn moment I ordered one of their garden pizzas without cheese. I inhaled the entire thing, and braced myself for the worst. Traditional flour does a number on me, and usually within an hour or so I'm paying the price. Instead I had a glorious night, slept well and woke up in the best mood.
I immediately went to the Side Eye website. And of course wasn't one bit surprised to discover they use locally milled grain in a house- fermented dough, and all their cheeses and meats are organic. I wanted to cry from happiness. Austin is known for being very accommodating for different diets, but I rarely find one that works for me. I cannot thank them enough. I will be a loyal customer til the end of time. TAKE MY MONEY.
Additionally, these pizzas are absolutely loved by all of our friends, because they are DELICIOUS and lovingly made to order with exceptional ingredients. I cannot say enough. Please support...

We were disappointed when Dough Boys closed as we loved their pizza, but now having done Side Eye Pie for both dinner and brunch … wow, what an outstanding replacement!
Food (5 out of 5) — the lunch and dinner pizzas are outstanding. Of the lunch and dinner pizzas, we’ve tried the Side Eye, Original Marg, Hippie and the Local Trip. The Caesar salad is also exceptional with a perfect hint of lemon. Side Eye also does brunch on Sat and Sun, which we tried today … OMG it was exceptional. The German Potato Pizza with the mustard bacon cream sauce, fontina and parm cheese with confit fingerling potatoes is my new favorite. They also have a pancake (large, thick almost like a cake) that was unique and surprisingly delicious. Sorry about the pics … I was hangry and didn’t take many. The pic of the pancake is after it was almost gone … d’oH!
Service (5 out of 5) — seems like the same quality crew as Doughboys with a much larger trailer and oven. The much larger oven seems to have helped with keeping up with the high demand for the amazing pizzas as the long waits that were common with Dough Boys now seem much shorter.
Beer / drinks (5 out of 5) — Meanwhile beer is consistently excellent and the evolving selection...
Read moreFirst off I will admit that I feel that pizza should be like Mexican food, cheap and bountiful. Occasionally, I'll treat myself to a boujee pie like via 313 and regret the heaviness of the aftermath. This was the first meat lovers pie aka "the meat sweats" that I didn't feel lethargic after eating. The meats were crispily wood fired and well seasoned w herbs. The second pie was " the pepp" w cripsy peperonies that curled into concave pools of delcious gushing grease w burnt ends. The crust was a nice balance of kwiiispy on the outside with gooooey on the inside w the structural integrity to hold up the loaded toppings. The rrd sauce was light and flavorful. The ranch dipping sauce was creamy and herby and tasted homeade. We also ordered a cesar salad that was quickly delivered upon payment. We thought it was pre made with how quick it was given to us, but it tasted fresh w it's parmesean crisp and wood fired lemon. My only gripe is that I felt there should have been more salad for $10. I'm fine w splurging on an artisan pizza pie, but a bed of lettuce shouldn't cost so much. It would be a 5/5 if I didn't feel like they skimped me on the roughage of that delicious...
