TLDR: Don't come here for the dimsum. At the best you'll be disappointed and at worst you'll be sick. My family and I used to come to this restaurant for dimsum almost every month pre-covid for years. It was in our dimsum rotation with New Fortune and It was a favorite of ours. When we saw that they brought it back recently we were so excited to have it again. What we expected was the pre-covid quality and flavor that we had come to love and instead what we got was $170 worth of food items that I would be remiss to feed my pets. Half of the dimsum we ordered was tasteless/stale (somewhat reminiscent of hot water) and the other half was naseua inducing and seemingly old or uncooked. I was the only one to eat the siu-mai out of my party because my sister and dad deduced that it was a bit too raw for their liking. After they said that it made perfect sense to me because the only thing that was coming to my mind while eating the dumpling was that it reminded me of the smell of walking through a zoo animal exhibit. Both of the pan-fried dumplings we ordered were left mostly uneaten because all of us spit out the bites we had taken once we realized how flavorless but offensive the filling was. The second pan-fried dumpling we had actually made me nauseated so I had to stop trying dumplings for a little while after that The quality of preparation for the dumplings was off as well. Each dumpling was likely to fall apart as soon as you would try to pick it up because the wrapper was sticking to everything except the dumpling filling itself. The har-gow is possibly one of the most confusing aspects of this because it seems impossible to mess up. The initial bite tasted like water and nothing else but slowly a funk we couldn't put our finger on built up in the after taste until my dad said, "you know what, this tastes like really old shrimp". Suffice to say we spit it out and didn't eat any more. I could go on and talk about my thoughts for every single item we ate as every one disappointed me massively. We loved the dimsum that this restaurant once had and are never going to come back here again.

Do you like it when staff treat you with no respect? Do you like someone looking through their glasses down their nose at you? Then this is the place for you! Instead of being polite and kind in explaining that ChinaTown would no longer allow food to be purchased at happy hours prices and consumed downstairs in Far East bar (which is owned by the same family). The server got very pretentious and simply pointed to the menu like I am illiterate. Sir, my issue/question wasn't that the print on the menu was too small. My confusion was that my friends and I had enjoyed coming to this location many times and enjoying food downstairs at the happy hour prices because let's face it, it's still on the property. It's unfortunate that people with that kind of attitude towards customer service work in the service industry. Honestly sir if you are so unhappy with your job that you need to treat me in that manner, perhaps you should find another profession. If you are interested in a wonderful sport bar with kind people, I highly recommend the...

Knowing that I would have to drive 2-3 hours to Houston to get some good dim sum, I decided to give Chinatown a try. I got here with my friends at 11 am on Saturday, as soon as they opened. The hostess was quick in taking us to our table and our server was prompt in asking us what we would like to drink. Immediately after, the first cart rolled by with the typical staples that you'll see at any dim sum restaurant. Quality-wise, the food was very solid except for their pork buns--Don't get them or you'll be disappointed. I was expecting the pork to be stuffed in something similar to a bao zhi, however it was not.

When we received our check, the price startled me. Since there was three of us and the total ran to be around 60 dollars, we each ended up paying 20 dollars not including tip. That's pretty expensive for dim sum knowing that we got approximately 10 dishes. Other than that, when I'm craving some more dim sum and I'm not willing to drive outside of Austin, I'll...
