Made a phone in order like I have been over 10 years. Went to pick it up and took a half an hour to receive my food. I watched the people that ordered food after I walked in receiving their food. When I finally received my food I ask to speak to a manager and he was the most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with. Did everything to blame it on me and everyone else other than his kitchen crew. His own employees told him it took too long for me to receive my food and he told them to go away and he would deal with it. He Wanted to take the food I waited half an hour for back from me but never offered to give me my money back. I've been eating here twenty years and if it doesn't get any better it will be the last time. I love you Dans but you're not going to treat me like a redheaded stepchild. Your customer service has slowly been going downhill since last year and your Manager was very very unprofessional and should be dealt with so he doesn't treat other customers that way. Honestly what happened was they lost my ticket when I ordered the food and found it 20 minutes later. It was 20 minutes from me paying for my food until I watch them drop my burger on the grill. While I watched other people that ordered food after I walked in the restaurant receiving their food. Just admit when you're wrong and take care of your customers like they've been taking care of you for the last several decades. I don't think that's too much to ask. Also I tried to contact your corporate office several times but can only get an answering machine. Which forced me to post my true experience online...
Read moreI used to be a huge Dan's fan. I used to think that Dan's was one of the best old fashioned burgers in town.
I stopped in at Dan's on Tuesday while out running errands. One of the first things I noticed was how the menu has shrunk. While I didn't have their original menu memorized, I didn't see as many of their "dinners" or non-burger options as they used to have. I did definitely notice that they were only down to two sizes of burger as opposed to their previous three. (They used to have a small, regular, and large burger. The large burger is no more.)
I ordered my usual lunch of a small double cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Because of COVID precautions, they didn't have any sweeteners or citrus out for the tea, so I went with a Barq's root beer, which is always a welcome surprise on most soft drink fountains. The fries were pretty much the same as I remembered -- slightly bigger than average fries with a bit of peeling remaining on them. The burger was a giant letdown, though. The burger was dripping and I can't explain it. It wasn't like a greasy burger, it was almost like it was wet. I don't mind messy when something tastes good, but this burger wasn't the Dan's burger that I remember. It was wet and messy, yet devoid of taste.

Read moreFood and service was great. While I was eating my hamburger I noticed that a homeless man entered the entrance foyer. The man foraged through the trash can. I told an employee what had occurred. She told me thank you for giving her the information. I noticed she said nothing to the manager. I spoke to some guy who appeared to be a Dan's Hamburgers manager. He was polite and said thank you for the information. I even pointed the man out. I went back and finished eating my hamburger. I noticed the manager did nothing to address the individual outside. Because of this I don't know if want to return to eat at this location. I think I talked to the manager around 6pm on Saturday April 30, 2022.A few days after I posted the review I got a call from Katie from the office of Dan's Hamburgers. Katie if I am not mistaken, might be Dan's daughter. Katie and I had a long talk on the phone. Katie told me that employees and the manager in question had been spit on by homeles persons in the past. I think the defunding of the Austin Police has led to this behavior from the homeless. Katie, told me that the police don't even come out for calls like this anymore. It seems like we're living in a different world now because of this.
