Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Austin

Was greeted with a warm Welcome by Kendall who asked if I was placing an order or picking up. I said placing an order, and she asked for me to be patient while she got her trainee, and after I explained it was my first time and I was there because my co worker the day before had their pesto chicken flatbread. Which smelt AMAZING. Immediately decided to try one for lunch the following day.

When placing my order Kendall aptly pointed out the new items on the menu, particularly the white cheddar chicken flatbread. Sold. And the sticker on the front door? Well that’s how you get the free smoothie on the second visit!!

After hearing about the discount on the smoothie when ordered with the flatbread(only 4 dollars!! And it’s HUGE!!!) I decided to order one as well.

The manager Sylvia was present and as she was making my order in front of me, (being very careful not to make a mess or cross contaminate, which I could tell as I have worked in restaurant management) She began to explain the origin of the place, where they have branched out too, and was overall extremely pleasant to converse with!

The trainee whose name I didn’t ask for, had her mask on, and explained it was only her second day, she seemed to fit right in as she added my modifiers without a hitch!

And the order came out correct!!!!

First time customer, but will be eating there every lunch break...

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is located at a great spot next to Waterloo Ice House Cafe's playground. It was very easy to order on the Tropical Smoothie Cafe app. I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread made with grilled chicken, bacon, tomatoes, romaine, cheddar and lite ranch dressing, and a Bahama Mama Tropical Treats Smoothie. The guy working was supper friendly and my order was ready to pickup and the place was very clean. Parking here is not a problem.

The Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread was very large and folded like a gyro. It tasted great and had a nice flavor to it making a perfect lunch item. I recommend eating a lite breakfast before tackling this flatbread. The smoothie was huge too and tasted great. Like always the smoothie stayed cold hours melting...

We live next door to this place and we were really hoping it was going to be a regular spot for us. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back. The smoothies were ok, maybe a 5/10 if I’m being generous, but the the owner/manager was so rude and unkind to her employees we won’t be supporting this business again. All of her employees were very young teens, one of whom was a girl she was clearly training. All I can say is that if that girl were my daughter, I would not want her working there one more minute. All of the kids there were clearly miserable and being verbally abused. Stop being condescending and rude to the people helping you make money. No one wants to come to a place where...
