Westwood Country Club — Restaurant in Austin

This review is about the ATX Open Tennis Tournament. My husband is a big big tennis fan and the tickets to the tournament were his birthday present. He was going to attend with our 23 year old daughter that played tennis in her teens.

When they arrived at Westwood, my husband was treated with what I can only describe as racism and discrimination:

1. he was rudely, rudely told to move away from the parking lot, even thou he was just politely asking informations on where to park
2. he was told that the parking lot was only for VIPs - immediately assuming that he was not
3. he was then mistaken for an Uber driver, even if my daughter was sitting in the front seat
4. he was then told that the parking was for members only - again assuming that he was not. My husband is Hispanic. I seriously doubt this would have happened to a white person. I am extremely disappointed at Westwood - not that I was expecting anything different from an elitist, snutty private club that seems to be stuck in the time of the plantations, but I was hoping that ATX Open would have had trained the employees better. Maybe look for a different venue in the future? Seems really sad that in this day and age there is still racism and discrimination, especially at a sport event where there should be inclusion and acceptance and where many of the players are...

i wish i could give zero stars because 1 star is still too high of a rating. this club hosted the ATX Open tennis tournament with this tournament it discriminated and was prejudice against russian players by banning their flags at the venue but I thought Austin, Texas was a liberal all inclusive city? so why is this club hosting tournaments that have openly discriminatory practices? ATX Open is a money hungry grubbing tournament they choose to host their tournament in hot Texas where temperatures reached mid-80s but don't offer free water. they had a water cooler in a tent on the 1st day but the 2nd day the water cooler was gone! water hydration is essential vital need and should be offered free of charge! and speaking of charge ATX Open charges people to recharge their phones at a charging station (no wonder why i never seen anyone using that charging station lol) AND ATX OPEN ACCEPT CASH!!! never have i ever been to a sports venue that doesn't accepts cash. we have to pay $23 for parking pass but when i get to the parking lot none of the parking lot attendees scan parking passes. i felt like i wasted almost $50 on parking...

The Nautical Boat Club at Westwood is absolutely wonderful We've owned a wake surfing boat on Lake Austin for the last 5 or so years and just had had enough with all the maintenance and hassles of boat ownership. So we sold it and joined the club, so much better and easier in almost every way - choice of very new boats, boats well maintained, great location, easy parking, best/newest marina on the lake, great people, and they even uncover the boat and valet it around for you. Seriously - you can never touch a boat cover again! Couple suggestions to make it even better though - online scheduling would be a huge improvement, extended hours option or freedom to take boat out or bring back after hours and it's a bit of a pain to have to gas the boats up at the end of every outing - maybe some way to keep track of gas used...
