Fratello's Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Avon Lake

Very mixed about Fratello's. When you get here, you're greeted by a former Lawsons building. Upon entering, the bar area is very dated. The seating area has little charm, very little. Our server(who will remain nameless) was cold and snooty. Started the evening with drinks 3 of 4 were good. A simple Bloody Mary was horrible.Just vodka and tomato juice. No hot sauce, no steak sauce, no Worcester ,no spices, nothing. Served in a rocks glass. It should have been in a tall glass. Appetizers were ordered, and THOSE were great, calamari, and the artichokes. The mains ordered, 2 were good until later that evening. The chicken parm was not very good. 1 got sent back, and the other got taken home to be fed to the puppy. The desserts were very good. Our server was more interested in the table of 3 men than a table of 3 ladies and 1 man, or any others. I am not sure I would try again as it is a long drive for a so so dining experience. I remember going here years ago and it was fantastic I would order a side order to go of the artichokes fratello which are still very delicious but the portion has been cut down to more than half from what I recall. Still delicious but very expensive for what I actually got. Two little pieces of fried mozzarella was considered to be the mozzarella appetizer, which literally was too small to share. We did go later in the evening it was after 7:00 p.m. but the bread should have been fresh instead it was rather tough. The chicken rollatini was wonderful my husband's head but the pasta that came on the side was dried out and needed more sauce. My pasta dish was good but wasn't exceptional. I will say that our waitress was wonderful very good server. It was a decent meal but not much to write home about. Sorry Fratello's but I literally had six tiny little deep fried artichoke pieces but I'm pretty sure where canned artichokes when I remember them being so much better years ago.... Been going for at least 10 years. The quality of the food & wait staff is always amazing. Unfortunately last night not an enjoyable dining experience. The owner, hostess & bus staff were annoying & ruined our dinner. Between the endless trips of the bus staff & hostess passing our table & looking at our 2 seat table nestled against the a wall, as soon as a fork was put down for a minute asking to clear the table, to the owner standing in the middle of the room glaring at those having conversation & finishing wine & dessert. What made it worse as the bill was left & he quickly picked up our credit card, didn’t say hello, didn’t ask how the meal or service was and when he returns with our $100+ check for two he didn’t even say Thank you.
