This review is specifically for the chef(s) for today 09/07/24.
I will start out by saying I wasn't planning on doing a review because mistakes happen and I thought our service was great and everything was handled amazingly by our servers. However, upon leaving the chef(s) decided to come out to the front and make unnecessary comments, so this is solely for them.
My husband and I came in right at opening. We both decided to get soup and share a meal. I got the French Onion soup and my husband picked the Chicken Paprikash. Both came out timely, no problem there. My French Onion was great, both my husband and I agreed. The Chicken Paprikash had a sweet taste to it. We politely brought this up to the staff, asking if it should be sweet or if maybe something was bringing the sweetness out. They said it shouldn't be sweet and took it back and tried it themselves, also saying it tasted sweet. They asked if my husband wanted to try a different soup, suggesting the Chicken Gnocchi (I'm guessing the soup of the day). My husband went with her suggestion. It too came out promptly, but oddly enough, it too had the same sweet taste. My husband told our server as well and we just shared the remainder of my soup. We didn't press anything else. Our servers were apologetic, but we just wanted to make them aware, not to make a fuss of things. We heard them making comments of how the chefs were gripping in the back. I guess this is common based on what was being said. Again, mistakes happen, it's whatever. Figure out the issue, fix it, and move on. But as we were about to leave, the crew from the back decided to make an appearance, coming to fill their water bottles, going to the restroom...all conveniently at the same time, to check and see who had made the comments about the soups. As were about to head out, Mr. Bandana chef, makes the comment "they know this is Mulligans right."
So I guess my question is, was your comment to suggest Mulligans can't hire a chef who has the skills to put together Chicken Paprikash? Are you suggesting that eating at Mulligans, people shouldn't expect quality in their food, which again, is prepared by you?
Again, we asked if there was something that could have made it sweet. I know paprika can do that at times. No one took to that, saying it was one of their common dishes and usually had the same taste. I suggested maybe the chicken, as both soups had chicken, had somehow been cooked on something that had a sweet residue left over, like the sweet potato fries' cinnamon sugar.
Maybe chefs in general are hard to come by but I would suggest the manager to talk to them about staying in the back to work through their hurt feelings. It was just weird how they all gathered, squabbling like a bunch of teenage boys ready to pick a fight. We're they trying to intimidate us? It was just odd. If you can't take some constructive criticism about food, you're in the...
Read moreI ate here the other night with my father and I feel like this place has kinda been run down a little bit. When I arrived around 8:30 pm. there wasn’t really any other families or people sitting there just a few groups of people. Our waitress was nice but made a few mistakes. I ordered chicken tenders and they were very crisp. My older father got wings, he asked for blue cheese. We also didn’t get any silverware not for my chicken, his wings, nothing. Then waitress proceeded to go into the kitchen for about 20 min to come back she has totally forgot about the cheese and started asking us if we needing anything else so we asked for silverware. Another 20 minutes goes by and she still hasn’t came back with the silverware. There were only 3 groups here and it wasn’t that busy. So getting a few forks and knifes weren’t that hard. She again proceeds to come out of the kitchen with no silverware. Another 7 more minutes goes by and she finally gets the silverware to our table. We eat, then our waitress gives us our bill. She then disappears somewhere in the restaurant. Minuets go by and she still isn’t back yet. Then, another waitresses that wasn’t serving us took our check and did it for us. She said have a good night and we left. We didn’t see our original waitress for the rest of the whole time we were there. Anyways, it overall wasn’t that bad food wise but the service was...
Read moreI actually thought this place was pretty decent, given the rest of the reviews. However, be prepared to eat a lot! The portions are massive.
We started with the fried mushrooms and French onion soup. I initially thought the fried mushrooms would be the mushroom caps, the small ones that you usually get at restaurants. Wrong. These were full size mushrooms! The beer batter was great, but I couldn't eat a lot of them. I sort of wish they had been a smaller size.
The French onion soup was pretty tasty, but it needed a little bit more salt. It wasn't the best French onion soup, but it was decent. We were also given salads with our meals.
I ordered the tuna steak with seasoning on it for my entree (not that I had any room for any more food at this point) and the seasoning was really intense but incredible! My dad and my brother both got steaks and loved their steaks.
We couldn't put down any dessert but got the Snickers pie to go. It was alright. Not the best, but not awful either.
The service was what bumped this up to four stars for me. It was really friendly and great. Our server was good about filling up our drinks and giving recommendations the whole way through.
The decor here is really dark and it's all wooden inside, so it looks like a fun place to go to to just hang out. If you're into beer, they also have a very...
