Good, but a few things keep it from being great. The consistency of the Burrito Loco could use improvement. For example sometimes I get a ton of pico in it and other times there is hardly any. Sometimes they’ll include the 2 salsas and sour cream on the side and sometimes they don’t.
Another is how it’s cooked. Between the Wilkes-barre location and the Dallas location there is a fairly big difference. While the food at the Dallas location still tastes good, they just cook it better at the Wilkes-barre location with the beef, shrimp, and onions being nicely charred.
Not sure what’s going on with the queso dip either but it is also very inconsistent. Sometimes it has zero spice and other times is has a lot. Sometimes it’s really runny almost like water and sometimes it’s considerably thicker. Sometimes it’s room temp and other times it’s piping hot like it should be. Sometimes it’s a little chunky with what I think is unincorporated cheese like when a sauce breaks, other times it’s smooth. Also don’t bother ordering a small side of queso. Small really means small and the 2 oz. cup ($2.50) is not worth it, you’re better off just getting the large.
I also don’t really know if the Burrito Loco has guacamole in it by default or if I have to add it. The first couple times it didn’t look like there was any even though it has it listed on the menu description so was that a mistake by the restaurant or is the menu description wrong?
Overall though, probably the best place for Mexican food in the back mountain.
-----Edit----- I'm going to be honest and say I think its already going downhill. The prices keep creeping up and none of the menus are accurate. All of a sudden I have to pay 50 cents for a tiny sour cream when it used to be included. The Burrito Loco is now $15.50 (8/15/23, $1.25 more than what it states online), and chips with queso is 7.99, which is TWO DOLLARS MORE than what it says online. lol what?..alright. It's good food but it isn't that good sorry, it's very...
Read moreThe food is not authentic Mexican and “Not bad” when the order is correct. I ordered to go from there on 1/7/2023 and was missing items. I called back to let them know and the female that answered the phones reply was, “SO…..” Then another female got on the phone to apologize stating that the other server doesn’t speak English well. She refunded the missing items. Today, 1/8/2023, I decided to give it a second chance because everyone deserves a second chance right? Wrong! Items were missing from my order again. I called again and at first the female on the phone was apologetic, then asked if the items were correct on the sale slip? I stated that everything was on the sale slip but not in my order. She stated then it’s not the servers fault, it’s the kitchens fault. I asked who was supposed to double check the orders coming from the back before they are bagged up to make sure they are correct? Silence. I informed her that this was the second day that things were on the sale slip that I paid for but was not in my order. I asked to speak to the manager. She stated that it was the owner/manager in the back making the orders…. I asked if I could please speak to them and her tone got elevated and pushy, she said, there are tables here, I’m the only server and he’s busy. I’m not going to ask him to step away from what he’s doing to talk to you but you can come in and talk to him (if I came in, he would still have to step away from what he is doing). I understand that getting quality people to work for you is hard now but a customer is a customer and good customer service goes a long way. I informed her that I would no longer be returning and she said, “Great! Have a nice day,” then hung up. I’m sorry Gabby, that you were the only server on today but with one less customer returning to your location, it should lighten your work load and the amount of tickets for the owner...
Read moreI came back to give Burrito Loco to give it another try after not enjoying it the first time I had dinner there. I always give a place another try if I don't like it the first time. Well, completely disappointed again. The food is quite honestly just gross. I tried the grilled chicken salad. The only thing about the salad that was decent was the tortilla shell. The entire salad was covered in the juice from the can (at least it seemed like an entire can) of baked beans. I didnt ask for a bean salad? I had to ask for the dressing because it didnt come with it. I was hopeful it would mask the taste but just made it worse. Dressing and baked bean sauce don't mix well and made for an already drenched wet salad (from the juice of the baked beans) worse. I'm not sure how to explain the chicken but it surely wasn't fresh grilled chicken. 🤢 I was so hopeful because I like supporting Back Mountain businesses. I wish I would have put the money spent and stuck with another local place where I could have enjoyed my meal and drink. The Pina Colada was mediocre at best. It could have passed for a virgin to be honest. I was charged $4.99 for an unsweetened iced tea? The waitress was very friendly. The only upside of this visit Save your money and dine elsewhere. What a complete...
