I meet some family for dinner 3 weeks ago. We sat and started eating, before we knew it the food was gone and I was so bummed I didn't get any pictures for a review because it was certainly well deserved. Tonight that same family was back in town and it was a unanimous decision to return. Again we were all delighted with the food. The atmosphere and service are fabulous but the food is the star of the show. There are options for everyone meat eaters, vegans, vegetarians and even gluten free. We started with the chicken carnitas tacos which are well seasoned, hint of lime a little crunch from the slaw. Everything you could want from a taco. Then the brussel sprouts came out, we ended up getting a second tray and even contemplated a third. I try brussel sprouts everywhere I go and these are by far the best. Next we sampled the shrimp tacos and again they had good flavor, and were cooked well. I did not get a chance to try the crab and shrimp fritter so I can only say clearly my guest enjoyed them. We also decided to get an order of the vegetarian collard greens because a few of us don't eat pork and you rarely find them cooked without it. They were outstanding, even the ones that weren't a fan couldn't stay out of them. By the time we got to our entrees we were pretty full but still decided to power through. The blackened seasoned salmon was done to perfection, it sat on a bed of wild rice, asparagus and topped with a corn salsa of sorts. Some places just try to char fish and call it blackened and seasoned but Busyboys and Poets actually delivers. We had the catfish last time and it was equally as good. We also tried the fried chicken entree and sandwich. Both were delicious, crispy, juicy chicken. The entree comes with a mushroom cream sauce and mashed potatoes that give it that home cooked feeling and the sandwich is served with a spicy mayo that gives it a little kick. We drove almost an hour to get here and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again the food...
Read moreOverall good place. The food is consistently decent. It also has the convenience of several free parking garages nearby. The atmosphere is casual but comfortable, while I think the service can get a little busy. But not so bad as to destroy your impression. Again, the food is relatively decent, and offers a fairly decent selection. This last trip I had a chicken chorizo and egg wrap (pretty good) while my wife built her own omelette. Both of us had sweet potato fries on the side.
Not a bad place and somewhere I’ll go back to but think they can do better. The food is decent although slightly pricey in my opinion. It does have a nice setting with the pictures in there. My last trip however the server didn’t seem very happy and didn’t check on us much. Not too big of a deal. Server said it was busy so that may have been part of it. My last trip I ordered the spinach and fruit salad, which I find refreshing.
For good food and decent service, this is an option for consideration. There’s several free parking garages within a block or two so going here is easy. It’s a comfortable and casual place that makes your trip worthwhile. Since it has been a while, we decided to go here. It was very busy but service remained good. Overall dishes are good. We started with the cauliflower bites, which were delicious. For my meal I had the spinach salad, which was pretty good, while my wife had the nachos. For me, the nachos were just food but not something I would have ordered.
This was our first time (although I have wanted to go sooner) and enjoyed it. There’s a free parking garage a block away, which helps. Service is great. The setting is also very good. We had no wait and there seems to be plenty of seating, although it was very busy. I enjoyed everything I had. Sweet potato fries were phenomenal. The cauliflower bites were delicious. And the chicken and wild rice soup was...
Read moreI'm not one to usually write reviews, but I'm hoping this post can help the establishment acknowledge the required improvements. All-in-all, the food was good, but the service was abysmal.
We came in on 03/06 around noon. The brunch started out just fine with the host seating us in our table in the far back past the bar. When our waitress came to take our order, I had a confusion regarding whether what I wanted to order came with a side; I was vaguely informed "I could order a side", but when further trying to confirm whether the dish itself came with a side, was met with aggressive and rude responses by the waitress. I ended up not ordering the side dish (at which the waitress responded, "So you don't want a side since it's extra?"). When our food came, it came with the cancelled side dish, which I could never send back, since our waitress only checked in to take our orders and to pay (not to mention we never received our waters).
The waitress never acknowledged the mistake on her part and, overall, exhibited an aggressive/intimidating/cantankerous demeanor throughout our interactions with her, for which reason we chose not to make a fuss about paying the bill (which included the cancelled side)/the mistakes in general. After paying, we asked for a box for our leftovers, but didn't get one for about 15 minutes until we, ourselves, flagged down a manager to discuss with who, finally, got our waitress to service our need. She seemed annoyed at having to give us the box.
It's too bad, since the food was quite good, but the experience was stress-inducing - the opposite of what anyone would want while trying to relax and enjoy a meal. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone else, nor is it something that I, personally, will voluntarily take the chances in partaking in ever again. Maybe the other locations are...
