I worked at the Treehouse Cafe for 7 months during the busy period. After injuring myself at the work place I was then fired for taking a sick day and going to the hospital where I was diagnosed with a hernia. there were instances where I requested a sick day because I was Ill and feared for the health of the customers, I was told I had to come in anyways. I was repeatedly verbally abused by the management and my job was threatened multiple times. As a line cook and a dishwasher I noticed several unsafe conditions that threatened the safety of my fellow employees and the customers. One being the fact that they do not wash any of the lettuce, I had several salads sent back because they contained foreign matter, such as gravel or sand. Another big deal was that there was never any hot water, the temperature in the Auto Chlor dish sanitizer was never above 100 degrees f. the industry standard to properly sanitize food receptacles is no less than 140 degrees. anything under that runs the risk of transmitting food born disease. there was no proper ventilation and the workplace was scorching hot all year round, and on several occasions the drains clogged, flooding the kitchen with gray water, which I believe was a symptom of the water being too cold. My tips were repeatedly withheld and after my injury at the work place my employer lied to Labor and Industries about the injury in an attempt to stop my claim. This restaurant is a terrible place to work and I would never eat there again because of sanitation hazards and the way that the employees...
Read moreMy family has been coming here for a long time, and though not exceptional for the price, the food is good. However the service continues to decline, and that's a shame. We waited over an hour for three dishes with no apologies or updates. We never received the order of bread we made (and got charged for it still). The two pasta dishes arrived without sauce! Completely dry pasta with a few sprigs of asparagus. But here is the real reason I feel obligated to review. When it was pointed out that the pasta had no sauce, the waiter politely and quickly took it back without questioning my male relatives who had ordered it. When my pizza came without something I'd asked for ( I had tested it ) the waiter argued with me, insisted it was there even pointing almost in the pizza to what he thought was a single piece of it. Dude, if you forgot our bread, sauce on our pasta I'm sure it's possible you also forgot a topping on our pizza. Is it really worth the 50cents of topping to mansplain to me that I don't know what I'm eating? For real though, he unapologetically offered it on the side and my family and I confirmed the taste difference. My male relatives were shocked at the disparity. Please address your implicit sexism bro, my family is taking their patronage somewhere else...
Read moreIf you like being gouged on excessive fees, by all means come here. They automatically help themselves to 6% and try to explain it away as going to kitchen staff. Does this mean you stiff the kitchen staff on normal tips? The people that are most likely working the hardest over hot ovens and burners? If you have 6 or more people the will add 20% ON TOP if this (we were part of a trivia group so they gladly called us a party of 6+ even though it was 4 of us). This means if you are 6 or more they automatically help themselves to 26% in "service fees" on top your bill. Then they have the gaul to ask you the to add another tip on top of their already excessive fees. For a family of 4 it ran us $130 for a large pizza, a small pizza, and a few drinks for absolutely basic food and subpar service. I had to actively stop our server a few times to get help. And all of this great food and service definitely deserved a 26% tip on top, no? Last time I will ever come to this place. Come here if you want underwhelming food and service with a hefty...
