Hands down best Mexican food in Bakersfield. The east side doesn’t play around. Probably the most authentic food I’ve had since my last trip to Baja California. I love how it comes with guacamole included, like many places down in Baja. First time ever trying cohchinita pibil and was not disappointed at all. You can really taste the delicious flavor from the banana leaves and the pickled onions were the cherry on top. One thing I would recommend on the Grubhub app (maybe I missed it but I didn’t see it) is to put as a disclaimer about the tacos that they don’t come with guacamole as mine didn’t. But every other item does I believe, (maybe it’s best without guac?) but still was excellent and juicy for smoked meat. The quesadilla was juicy as always with guac and meat coming out of the seams. Foodgasm. The birria tacos had a nice crunch to them and the birria was flavorful, the consome was delicious as well. Salsas from here are always delicious as well. The green salsa has excellent flavor but not too much spice, and the red salsa hits good too, although it is a little spicier than the green. Most red salsas are all spice with no flavor or vice versa, but this one has both spice and flavor. To the restaurant owners: NEVER fire your cook. Pay that (wo)man what (s)he is worth. I will continue ordering from here and hopefully can stop by one day when I’m on that side of town. Again, I can’t compliment this...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of enjoying an amazing hot quesadilla and torta, and both were absolutely delicious!
The quesadilla was served fresh off the griddle, perfectly crisp on the outside and oozing with melted cheese inside. The fillings were generously portioned and packed with flavor. The balance between the gooey cheese, tender meat (I had the carne asada), and the warm, lightly toasted tortilla was perfection. Every bite was rich and satisfying, with just the right amount of spice. It was the kind of meal that makes you slow down just to savor every mouthful.
The torta was equally impressive. The bread was soft but sturdy, toasted to golden perfection. Inside, it was layered with juicy, seasoned meat (he chose carne asada), fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and creamy avocado. The combination of textures—crunchy veggies, tender meat, and creamy sauces—made for a mouthwatering experience. Each bite was an explosion of flavors, from the rich savoriness of the meat to the fresh and tangy toppings.
Both the quesadilla and the torta were packed with authentic flavors and prepared with care. If you’re craving Mexican comfort food done right, these two...
Read moreSeen this place on bakoeats on Instagram was really excited about trying. It moved here from LA about a year ago and haven't been able to find a good spot for tacos. The birria was not good. NO FLAVOR. He mentioned the birria ramen as one of the best things to try there and it was not good at all. He had no flavor whatsoever. The shrimp tacos on the other hand were amazing. I would definitely get those again and recommend those. The conchanita tacos had so much flavor but the blue corn tortilla was so thick and it just completely fell apart. We also got birriaqueso tacos and that had no flavor either. It also had a piece of metal in it like a string from the grill that gets cleaned but I'm not too sure. Maybe a piece of foil. Not sure if I would go back. It was definitely overpriced. It came out to $50 for one ramen and...
