We haven't been to this restaurant in a few years so decided to go with my family tonight. I have always had good experiences in the past and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Tonight was not the same. The wait to be seated was about 25 minutes which I didn't find too bad considering we were a party of 7. We placed our orders which took close to an hour to come out. I got the molcajete but it just tasted off from what I remember. Over seasoned salsa, shrimp tasted like soap, chicken was very dry; just not good.
There was a pretty large party in the center of the restaurant who were celebrating a birthday. When it came time to sing happy birthday they played las mañanitas on the sound system on full volume, it was very loud. The 3 children at our table had their ears covered and who I assume was a manager began to turn the lights on and off in the restaurant for the duration of the song and I had to wait to eat my food because I couldn't see what I was doing with the lights flickering. It was just overwhelming and not enjoyable. My sister asked them if they could turn the music down and the same person who was flicking the lights on and off came and spoke to us in a way I took as confrontational. He also came back later on after he seen my sister lip singing a song they were playing and said something along the lines like "oh you were complaining about the music being too loud but now you like it?" I had to step in and say the music was extremely loud earlier. It was just uncalled for and unprofessional for him to come and say that.
So all in all, the food wasn't good, the wait was pretty long, we had to ask for salsa to go with the chips they got us, had to get our own silverware when the food came, felt uncomfortable with the confrontational manager. Would honestly give it 1 star but I'm giving it 2 stars because the other manager and the waitress who brought our food out were polite. Needless to say, I will not...
Read moreMy daughter and i stopped by here last nigh 12/23/2021 we had received a gift certificate for Christmas, I've seen this place only thru passing but honestly had never heard of it before on the streets, but I'm glad we got that gift certificate, it was delicious to say the least, prior to going I had asked a friend about it and he had mentioned it was a little old school inside? We went in to place a order and it did have a older appearance inside but we didn't mind, we placed a order for some fajitas they had recommended since we had never been there before, we ordered there special of all 3 blended meats chicken steak and shrimp fajitas, as we waited we ordered a strawberry margarita for myself and my daughter got the Virginia strawberry dakiri? And they were both delicious, the service was excellent and while we waited they brought us out chips and salsa that were amazing, ill admit I'm a little bit of a tortilla chip connoisseur but I had never had these chips before they tasted home made along with the salsa which had its own unique great taste, I was a little taken back by the price, I believe our fajitas were approximately 22 dollars a plate, that might not be much to some but I grew up when the plates cost 7.95 so it was a little bit of a sticker shock, we got home and we started to eat some of the best Mexican food we had ever eaten before, the servings were definitely more than enough and the rice and bean combo was dynamite, we all had definitely agreed that the price was well worth it, the chicken steak and shrimp were all very juicy and were extremely tender, this hands down will definitely be our new hot spot, thank you los molcajectes which I hate to admit I don't know...
