Los Panchos Restaurant — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Pretty sure this place is a front for laundering money, because it's always a ghost town in there and it closes so early.

I've been there twice, and the first time was just ok, I got a burrito to go, and drank a beer while I waited.

The second time, I went with my friend. We walked straight into the bar area, and sat down at the bar. The bartender looked at us like we didn't belong there. He asked what we would have and I asked for a big plate of tacos. Bartender said that I couldn't afford to eat there because the tacos were $5 a piece.

I asked "what should I order then?" He handed us menus and said "look at the menu and choose something, tell me what you want. That's how it works"

I looked at all their expensive prices, decided that I would just drink a beer. I looked up and said "2 beers please". He's still looking at us like we didn't belong. I turned to my friend, and struck up a conversation.

After about 5 minutes, I looked up, and the bartender was no where to be found. Ghost town.

Food: ordered the chili verde enchiladas, rice, beans, flour tortillas. I think the staple of any good Mexican restaurant is their beans and rice. Let me tell you, this place has theeee best beans. Remind me of the way my mom made them! The rice was just meh for me. The chili verde is not spicy, which is good for me because I can't handle too spicy. Overall, I thought the food was really good AND the tortillas are made there and very tasty!

Drinks: They serve coke products and I got the Diet Coke. I did not care for their drinks as they reminded me of the taste of hospital water if that makes sense. My sister got the ice tea and she said it was good.

Service: Pancho was not here on this date, but he is soooo friendly and would get 10 stars. The older lady that works there and has helped us both times we've been there is not nearly as friendly. In fact, I would give her just 2 stars. Though she did seem to be in a better mood the 2nd time we were there.

Service was great. People are super friendly and nice. Take care of you when it comes to refilling your drinks. I got to say this food is not authentic mexican. Is white wash food. Salsa verde enchilada was salty dry. Chile relleno taste so bad i didnt even finish my food. The only thing i liked was their salsa that they bring with the chips. My bf got a coctel. That was not your authentic coctel de camaron had so much juice he had to fish the veggies and shrimp out of that. Sorry but i will never go back.
