Used to be a Gem, Now a Disappointment - Buyer Beware! For years, Mami Ana's was a must-stop for me whenever I was in Bakersfield. As someone who is not local and only visits 4-5 times a year, this place held a special significance because of its delicious and authentic Salvadorian cuisine. I used to rave about their pupusas and tamales de elote. It was a taste of home away from home. However, my visit today was nothing short of a heartbreaking disappointment. The bill came out to nearly $80 for food that was far from the authentic Salvadorian flavors I remembered and, frankly, tasted stale and unappetizing. The plátanos, a dish I always looked forward to, were frankly disgusting – oily and clearly not fresh. We barely touched half of the food we ordered. It strongly appears that Mami Ana's is now under new ownership or management. The quality of the food has plummeted drastically. What was once a source of comfort and deliciousness has become a waste of money and a genuinely unpleasant experience. Adding insult to injury, the service was shockingly poor. Despite there only being two customers in the entire establishment, the service was slow, inattentive, and lacked any warmth. It pains me to write this, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Mami Ana's to anyone looking for genuine and tasty Salvadorian food. The authenticity is gone, the freshness is questionable, and the service is subpar. Save your money and your appetite – this is no longer the gem it once was. Delicious food however; lacks customer service, cleanliness and integrity. Prices on the menu are not what is charged. I was over charged by twice the amount. I kindly went over the receipt with the waitress and she admitted that they charged twice but that they could up charge because they hadn’t updated their menu. We were weren’t told by them and it also wasn’t posted anywhere in the restaurant. Also they charge $3.5 for a cup of coffee, they don’t come around to offer refills (not once) even when empty and each cup is limited to two creamers. Enjoy the delicious food...

A refreshing scene on the Mercado Latino Patio! Their patio looks amazing and stands out! We tried this establishment shorty after they opened. We heard their birria tacos and Tacos Gobenador were popular and really good. We ordered an order of each and pupusas as well. We were very satisfied with our order.
