Sonic Drive-In — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I feel bad for the employees at this location. They are nice people. However, everything seems to be either broken or delayed at this restaurant. For instance, four visits ago for me, no ice cream available because the machine was broken. Two visits ago, I had to only give them cash because their credit system was malfunctioning. This last visit, which was last night (09.24.2022) at about 11:00pm, I had to order and re-order the same things. Why? When I asked, it was because they had to write everything down. I don't know what was up, if the register used for ordering was not working, or what other reason, but it made the process slow and inefficient. The owner or manager of this franchise/corporate owned eatery (I'm not sure which status it has) need to make several improvements and also keep his or her restaurant functioning under normal conditions. Multiple times now we've gone to this location for a promo item that Sonic advertises, only to be told "we don't have that." These promo items were all on the standard ad screens at the drive up too. Three times, three different items. One of the items they didn't have was basically just adding chili to a burger, but somehow that was impossible. Then one time I went through the process of downloading, registering, and ordering on the app (as recommended on their screen) for some other promo, only to be told "we don't take app orders at this location." We stumbled across this place while we were trying to find someplace for "chocolate milkshakes" with a driver who was half out of his head with pain from a blow to the ribs he'd taken during martial arts practice. :-) I know that sounds like quite the intro, but I, being familiar with Sonic, got a Rte 66 cherry limeade while everyone else got chocolate milkshakes. Everyone was favorably impressed with the portion sizes, and our helpful clerk, a Stockton native, gave us accurate and very precise directions that had us out of town & the Saturday night "Fast & Furious" traffic and headed back to our campsite.
