El Jalapeños — Restaurant in Barberton

I don't usually go out of my way to leave a poor review because I just don't want to spread negativity. But this is something that really bothered me throughout my time here.

To start and to be fair, it was a fairly busy time. But regardless, if you want to eat here please be aware that it will be LOUD. And it's not like every table was full but I felt like I had to shout to get the waitress to hear my order and even then, I just turned the menu and pointed because she couldn't hear me. Maybe we just were seated in a particularly noisy area but it was very loud and very overstimulating. I understand sometimes thats just the environment of a restaurant but I truly had a hard time even enjoying the meal (which was very delicious by the way) because of how loud it was in there.

Additionally, I feel for the wait staff, none of them seemed thrilled about being there (which I understand, it's a busy time and customer service isn't exactly a fun job) but I overheard a nearby table asking one of the waitresses for inappropriate actions/service. I just felt for the waitress, although she seemed to handle it well.

All in all, the food was delicious and speedy. We didn't have to wait very long at all. And when we entered, we were seated right away, so I really appreciate that. The environment is less than ideal to say the least, not someplace I would take my family to and probably not a place I would visit again just due to the audibly overwhelming nature of the experience. The service was good, I just felt mildly off put by the behavior of other patrons. But ultimately I know that is not the fault of the business, each person is responsible for their own actions.

I ordered from here using Uber eats. I scheduled to pick up my food instead of having it delivered, as I had errands to run anyway. It was supposed to be ready by 6:30ish. I knew it wouldn’t be ready on time as I’ve ordered several times from here and it is always a little late. When I got there around 7 they were very very busy. I asked for my order and was told it wasn’t ready but it would be in 5 minutes. So I waited 10 more minutes and asked again, then I was told that my order was already picked up. I let them know it was not picked up by me. The staff didn’t seem to care and kept telling me it was already picked up. They told me I could have my stuff reordered, at which point I was told I didn’t pay for yet, which I had (they probably couldn’t see because I ordered through an app) They told me it would be 15 minutes. It was longer then that. I’m not upset by the time it took to get it straightened out or even the fact that they gave my order away to someone else. Mistakes happen, but I am baffled at the disregard for what had happened and the fact that nobody really seemed to care or know what was happening. Hands down the worst experience I’ve had anywhere. Nobody apologized or even remotely acted like they cared about how messy and disorganized the situation was. A lady came out and brought me my order and said “here ya go” around 7:45. I know they were incredibly busy, I know when you’re busy, mistakes happen and they take time to fix, but no “sorry for the inconvenience/ wait/miscommunication” nothing. Just “here’s your food”?? I have been to El Jalepeno countless times. This is an unbiased review as I have visited with friends, family, coworkers and my partner. I would overall rate 3.5 and here is why. The food is your typical American Mexican restaurant. Large portions. Lots of cheese sauce and fried food including the corn chips and salsa you receive complimentary on dine in only. The food is overall good. Some items are misrepresented on the menu. The margaritas are made by the server who serves your table. There is a lot of incocistancy with the margarita. Each person makes them different. I have been here countless times and the owner walks around glad handing patrons who drink but ignored those who don't.

Its really not a place for happy hour in the bar as they always seat babies and small children in the bar area. If you get out of work the last thing you want to hear is babies screaming while you are trying to unwind. I have never seen this seating arrangement in any restaurant I have ever worked or visited. Minors or children in the bar. So dont go for happy hour as this is 100% the case. I have never been in the bar area without children or minors. As for the mens bathroom the urinal has and will be indefinitely with a garbage bag on it. Hopefully the margaritas don't make you pee. They permit smoking on the patio.
