I read through these reviews and think a lot of people have their expectations set way too high for a small Chinese Restaurant in a tiny little town. This is not China Town in San Francisco.
I have eaten the buffet there 4-5 times and have ordered take out 30-40 times. The eat in buffet is limited and not too pricey. If they have what you like and you are there during lunch, it is an ok deal. If you come after prime lunch time, the food may have been out a little too long.
The take out is not the cheapest, but I have rarely been disappointed. The owner doesn't speak English really well, but seems professional and if you just order off the menu and speak clearly, she won't mess it up. I never felt she was rude at all. I think in all the times I have ordered, I have only had one order messed up.
I always enjoy the House LoMein and General Tsao's Chicken. Their egg rolls are usually really good. Have been a couple of times that I could tell the grease...
Read moreThings were rocky for China One from 2020 onward, and I was starting to get worried that the only restaurant that doesn't serve Midwestern county fair food within a 100 mile radius was done for.
HOWEVER, they've recently made a comeback and it's NOTICEABLE. Fresh-tasting ingredients have replaced the freezer-burnt veggies, the meats are perfect every time and tender enough to cut with chopstick. And the egg rolls? They're amazing. Everyone I know goes absolutely feral for China One's egg rolls.
If you're wondering about the crab rangoons, I can tell you that my car smells like an episode of Deadliest Catch when I get them, so rest assured that it's definitely real crab. (Or be warned if you have an allergy and too much courage for your own good)
The owners are sweet and nice always, they're truly beautiful people and I'm in love with my little noodle shop. China One has cemented itself as an oasis in an otherwise arid and desolate...
Read moreI've been there several times but I won't be going back. The woman working the register is rude and quite frankly, mean spirited. The buffet food is good when its fresh, but if you dont get there at the right time, it's awful. The dining area is always less than clean, but today was especially bad. There was a dried up lo mein noodle on the wall trim that appeared to have been there for a while. The trays feel greasy to the touch and the trash can needs to be emptied more and/or have the swinging door removed. Pro-Tip: make sure you have hand sanitizer in your car for when you leave. I wouldn't dare enter their bathroom even just to...
