You will automatically be charged an extra ten percent onto your total. We’ve been getting takeout from here for years but over the weekend, it was the first time I’ve been back in the past year. The food has always been better than most Cape Cod Chinese restaurants and they do a good job of actually getting your order correct. Unfortunately, after what I noticed the other night, I will never come here again.

I ordered pu-pu platters and a bunch of appetizers. I asked them to make sure to put in enough duck sauce, seeing as it was all appetizers. On my receipt, I noticed they actually charged me extra for duck sauce! Wow. Just wow.

Then, I see my receipt had an automatic ten percent added as a gratis—even though I had put a generous tip in their tip jar at the counter. This is an illegal practice. I wasn’t dining in — plus there is no dine-in at the moment anyways. Take-out restaurants need to post signage if they are automatically going to charge extra. What exactly is this ten percent charge for? It’s not tip because the tip column on the receipt is separate.

They already increased their menu prices. What they should do is just increase their prices by another ten percent but instead they are engaging in deceptive business practices. Also, don’t pay with cash here. I’ve noticed that the woman owner will operate the register if she sees a big order being paid with cash. She doesn’t enter the amount into the cash register but just counts out the change in her head and hits the “tender” key on the register to open the drawer and give the change. When this happens I ask for an itemized receipt and she refuses. Why? This is called tax evasion. Anyone who pays with credit card gets an itemized receipt but if you pay with cash and have a big order, you can’t get a receipt? Unethical and illegal.

So between them charging for duck sauce, adding an extra ten percent to your takeout bill, and pretending like large cash orders never happened, the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and the IRS should get involved. As for the other reviewers who have claimed of stolen credit card numbers, this is of importance as well.

Bottom line: I am writing this review to encourage customers to really look their receipts over with a fine-tooth comb and watch their debit and credit card purchases after visiting this place.

Also, there’s now a much better Chinese restaurant 3 miles down the road and while they might not be so good with actually getting your food order correct, their food tastes better, is healthier, and doesn’t have any hidden costs or added...

My Son and I ordered delivery combo plates from Great House on Nov.11th 2024he had # 14 beef with garlic sauce apps chicken finger and boneless spare ribs I ordered # 6 beef with veggies and my apps were crab Rangoon and boneless spare ribs. The food was subpar, we littery got sick from the food he thew his up and I had to run to the bathroom before I shit myself. The food has not been very good for a little while now. We oder may be a few weeks ago and the egg rolls tasted stale and dry just plane old, this time the boneless spare ribs I don't think the pork was any good, crab Rangoons had no crab had no flavor. The rice was greasy and just laking of anything good flavor at all.we never used to have any problems with their food but the past few months the food hasn't been good at all it is hit or miss of late. Won't be ordering from them for a while.I will be ordering else where for a while. We have been customers for years they have always been friendly and fast delivery accommodating with deleting items from dishes. The service and the employees aren't the issue, it is clearly just the food, I don't like complaining about the quality of the food but when you littery get sick from it there is a problem that needs to be fixed. Sometimes people don't call to tell you that there is something wrong with their food we are...

I don't understand all the positive reviews. True, the people there are friendly, but... It is really just a local take out place with a few tables. No real decore and has not been updated in many years. Even one of the local peope we met there said the place is a dump but the food is great. Their phone was constantly ringing and they did a brisk business. The food however, in my opinion, was poor. For starters, the shrimp and lobster sauce had no lobster, only a dark ground beef sauce. The few shrimp in the dish were fresh, but if it says lobster sauce... The fried rice was one step below ununspired. The spring roll was pure cabbage with nothing else good in it. The chowmein was a plate full of bean sprouts served without any rice. The egg drop soup looked interesting with lots of extra little ingredients like sliced leeks, etc. But was totally lacking in any flavor. The portions were generous, but not worth bringing home. We discarded the unfinished portions. The only thing we took with us that was the high point of the meal was a botte...
