So, my husband is a truck driver and I ride with him always. We have passed by Maria’s a dozen times and would not stop because well, from the outside, it just didn’t look like much. Talk about don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I was in search of a taco truck in the Barstow area and couldn’t find one on Google maps. However, Maria’s popped up. I remembered seeing it and thought. Let me read the reviews on it real quick. They were all really good, so my husband and I decided to give it a go. First of all, let me say, the service here is amazing. Maria’s daughter, whose name I didn’t catch, is who waited on my husband and myself. She’s precious. We started with some chips and salsa (which are complimentary) and Maria’s has a really nice salsa. The freshness of it…. Mmmmmm….. and she is not shy on the cilantro which is beautiful, if I do say so myself. We ordered some guacamole (which is a must when eating chips, right) I ordered the “Truckers something or another” I can’t remember the name of it now. 3 carne asada street tacos, that comes with rice and beans. I substituted the rice for extra beans. My husband ordered the steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas which came with rice, beans, and a nicely portioned side of guacamole. I’m so impressed with the food at this place, I’m seriously still talking about it, right here 5 minutes after I’ve left. The shrimp, cooked perfectly in my husband’s fajitas was especially buttery tasting when you put a drop of lime on it. That’s all I sampled from his plate. My carne asada was so good that I made the decision that from now on when we travel from Vegas to Southern California, I will give up my taco trucks, if I’m promised to stop here. The food is just that good. The beans. Oh my my. Have you ever had perfect refried beans? Maria’s has them. They have this salty, tart, meaty, taste to them that’s really hard to describe and have anyone understand how good those beans really are. Maria has just gained my husband and myself as customers for life. Now we travel usually from Mississippi, to Washington, down to California, and then across to Florida. Taco trucks and Mexican food are a must in our diets and I have to say out of every place I’ve ever had street tacos, Maria’s is the hands down, no holds bar, best place to get Mexican Comfort Food. If you’re ever in this area, give her a try. You will not be disappointed. I’ll go as far as to say, you’ll never taste Mexican food...
Read moreI was recommended here by a TA shop employee. I would like to say, THANK YOU 😊..... When I walked I was greeted by the guy behind the counter. He explained yhe option on the wall, the sign &the menu. That made it more helpful in deciding. I asked a few questions and he didn't hesitate to help me decide on which plate to get. I told him that I don't eat spicy so he walked over to the cook to make sure that it wasn't spicy. He brought the chips and salsa out & at first it was mild then the bite came. The salsa was flavorful. The horchata was just the right amount of sweet. The meat was tender and the red sauce was velvety & smooth. It had the right amount of flavor and didn't over power the vegetables or meat. The rice and beans were good. I also bought rice pudding. I haven't tried it yet because I was over stuffed. I will say this, the service is outstanding. Finally, I can walk over from the truck stop and have a decent meal. Not many times have I came across a truck stop that has an option outside fast food or processed items. TO THE EMPLOYEES, keep up the awesome job. Anytime I come thru Barstow, I will be sure to stop in again. As a matter of fact, if I have time, I will grab breakfast in the morning. Please do not move from this location. Your restaurant is what keeps some of us grounded to home while...
Read moreThe food smelled amazing and tasted even better. My husband got the burrito deluxe and usually I don't like when things are covered in sauce because the sauce more times than not is gross. BUT not this time that sauce was good a bit spicy but very very good. The beef fajitas were well seasoned and had Great flavor. Beans we just the right consistency and the guacamole was delicious. Rice was good and I was able to eat it. Some time Mexican restaurants put veggies in it that have Lima beans and being allergic to them not good. Maria's was awesome for not having anything in the rice, I truly appreciate that. something I'm picky about is the ice tea, there ice tea was really good. There was no after taste and it tasted fresh. Our server was so nice, she was perfect. Well worth the money. and the short walk from the Love's truck stop allowed us to get out and away from the truck. We will be back no doubt on that. Next time I'm making sure I pay as they had Mexican wedding cookies at the counter. They are probably my favorite and more than likely would have been as good as the food was. ( Yes, my husband is in trouble for not getting them but next time.) almost forgot the free chips and salsa were both really good and fresh. The salsa did not lack on flavor. Highly recommend everyone to stop...
