NOLA Cajun Seafood — Restaurant in Baton Rouge

I wanted to include the pic I took to show what 2 lbs of boiled crawfish ($15.99 per pound) looks with this review but no option. I have a small tray that 3/4th the size of std. trays and these tiny mud bugs didn't fill the tray. Which ironically is a good thing because they aren't tasty at all; quite the opposite. They didn't even smell good. They actually taste like what they smell like; meat! Also they were very spicy, which I can deal with if they taste good. This not normally where I buy from but I had to have them delivered & going by several "reviews" I read this place was a "great" choice. I don't know if they were having an "off day" but my Superbowl Sunday is starting off whack with these crawfish. Incase the crawfish were not "great" I ordered a pork egg roll which was good, a pork meatpie which was so-so, french fries which are good, & a Patton's 6" sub I will try later. But for now I am heading to the dumpster with these tiny, nasty crawfish. Lesson learned I will stick with the places I know where the crawfish are actually 👍🏾.

Been coming to nolas for years on the strength i grew up eating here its in the area i grew up in. When nolas is right, THEY RIGHT! But when they’re wrong they’re big wrong. My biggest issue with nolas is the inconsistency. It’s nothing wrong with the spicy & hot crawfish, but i miss the days when they were more seasoned than spicy. Sometimes the crawfish be SO HOT you literally cant eat! Im talking about the type of hot that gives chest and stomach pain and sends you into mental confusion.There have been times i came and spent $60 and had to throw the crawfish away (numerous times) but like i said when they get it right they get it all the way right. As a customer who has been a customer for years i strongly encourage yall to build some consistency with seasoning and flavor.Sometimes its like playing russian roulette but one thing i can say is they always have crawfish! Thats one other good thing about it and its never a wait! The crawfish could be cleaner too some days. Like i said the inconsistency be there but ill still pop in and support because WHEN THEY ARE RIGHT...

Only thing that was seasoned and tasty was the eggs and potatoes. The gumbo was not good. The shrimp looked like it was falling apart and the chicken was in shapes I haven’t seen before. I got two pounds of crawfish that was terribly reboiled. I have had reboiled crawfish before from other places and they didn’t taste this bad. The crawfish was EXCESSIVELY spicy with no flavor.
