I've been here about 4 times. The first time, the people were so nice! The gentleman greeted me, asked if I had been there before, told me how things work. The food was good so I course, I went back. The elderly lady who makes the plates is extremely rude. I'm not sure if she is the mother of someone who works there, and I didn't want to disrespect her so I said nothing. The next time I went, same thing. She was rude to me, the 2 people in front of me, and behind me. You could tell by their facial expressions, they were thinking the same thing I was. About a week or 2 later, I went back thinking, I'm sure someone has complained and she's gotten better, but no. I just walked out to keep from getting out of character. In an era where it is trendy to support black businesses( I always have), it saddens me that we are treated poorly while trying to support our own. I love my people but I refuse to pay to be...
Read moreI went in today for the first time and I witted on line for 30 minutes. I didn’t really mind waiting but once I ordered asked the lady did they have meat in the beans and she said yes but then said something slick behind it to the other person. I then asked for chicken and was told that I would have to pay extra for chicken as it did not come with the plate. I was told that I could have gotten a 3 piece with side of red beans. I wasn’t told that and the guy asked was it my first time and I said yes he said well you didn’t know and asked me what pieces of chicken did I want as if he was going to charge for the regular chicken plate. I said two legs and he preceded to charge me $1.75 a piece for the chicken. I wanted to love this place and the food but they don’t cook real rice and the beans had no flavor at all. Needless to say I am not impressed and won’t...
Read moreFresh fast friendly good food like it's fresh from mom's kitchen! I eat from here several times every week! They treat you like family and greet you with a smile. The prices are very reasonable and the plates are loaded, today I told them I'm glad that they don't charge by the pound, lol. They take their time and prepare your plate with care. Once the guy at the register apologize for taking so long as he was on the phone taking an order and he was making sure that my meals were properly bagged and balanced as not to leak out the savory gravy and juices of the meal and I told him that "it's ok it's soul food, not fast food". But they are faster than any "fast food" restaurant that I have ever been to. Sometimes when I cook ribbs or a roast I'll just swing by and get my sides from them to complement my main course as you can get a large side for about $8...
