Cute place! One of the best Shrimp Poor Boys I've had in Texas. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Too many places overcook their shrimp and make them rubber, but not here! Definitely helps that their shrimp is fresh. The roll is perfectly proportioned and toasted perfectly, no massive boring hoagie roll overpowering the shrimp flavor here!
Price was reasonable for the portion size.
Atmosphere is cozy beach vibes.
Update: we need to talk about the Mushroom Swiss burger. The incredibly gooey, cheesy, mushroomy perfectly cooked burger with cheese stretch to the moon and flavor galore. I can't even give this enough words to describe. If you love Mushroom Swiss burgers, look at this picture of it. Look!
Yet another update! I've never updated a review as many times as I have here.
The waitress told me "if you like our shrimp poor boy, come back when we get our oyster delivery" so I did. Found out when the boat was coming in and man was it worth the wait. Juicy, crispy, fresh and tasty fried oyster in that great roll with the perfect balance of sauce and fresh veggies. Absolute perfection. I would rate another star if Google allowed me to. Highly...
Read moreWe were on our way home from a day trip to Matagorda Beach when, looking for a sit down meal but not a crowd, we took a chance on this place for its famous po-boys. I had the fried oyster po-boy while my hubby tried the Buffalo chicken. We were not disappointed! My oysters were cooked to perfection, not overdone but not raw either. Don't even get me started about the buns! Not sure if they're homemade but they sure tasted fresh. Actually, everything was fresh! The cole slaw was definitely homemade. Now I want to try every sandwich on the menu! Cheap, too: we both ate and had unlimited (brewed) sweet tea for $26. I would definitely recommend it! It was a cute little place that happened to be empty at 4p on Saturday. If you're heading up through Bay City on 60 your way home, it's before you hit downtown, on the right. It's in the older area of town and has a tiny parking lot but it's a vivid blue with pink trim so you...
Read moreI was expecting this to be really good from the reviews but I really didn't enjoy it. There were only two women working and our waitress was kind but the other (older) woman waitress didn't seem to be helping her that much and was visiting her friends who were eating there. It was dead except for my husband and me, and two other sets of women & ppl calling in or at the drive through. I felt like the cheese was like that fake kind and the only thing that was good was the grilled shrimp, the fried zucchini was Ok but the rest I couldn't really eat bc the seasoning was a little spicy. I had asked about this before to our waitress and she said it wasn't but I guess our ideas of spicy are just different. My husband liked it so he can eat my leftovers at least. It also seemed like Valentine's Day, Christmas, Halloween & Dia de Los Muertos were all going on at the same time there which was lively but a...
