La Casona Dining & Bar — Restaurant in Bay City

$30 for shrimp cocktail queso and guacamole is a rip-off. I ordered it to go and they did not give us enough chips to eat all of it. There were about 12 little shrimp and four small slices of avocado equaling about 1/16 of an avocado or less and not much of the other ingredients in it except the sauce. The cheese dip on the menu said it had three different kinds of cheese and onions and peppers. There was one piece of pepper the size of my fingernail and about six little pieces of onion and it was mostly Velveeta -like cheese. The guacamole was three scoops of guacamole amounting to about a third of a cup. Just because you put it on top of shredded lettuce doesn't make us think there's more. No crackers for the shrimp cocktail. We have never had a good meal here they've only been Fair. We've given it about 4 tries now. We thought with the good reviews we were just ordering wrong. Nope. Not again. Last visit: Regular chicken fajitas only had grilled onions as the vegetable-no peppers or tomatoes- basically it was grilled chicken and grilled onions. Don't call it fajitas when it's just chicken and onion! It did come with a little bit of sort of pico de gallo and guacamole but it also needs some sour cream. The corn tortillas are not homemade and I'm gluten free. The rice was okay but the beans were blah like out of a can. ( Mi Casa in Palacios has the best beans in country). And like almost everywhere down here the portion of the side of rice and beans was small although I only ate a couple bites of it because it wasn't good. They forgot to bring us the guacamole we ordered. I will say 3 Stars is fair. My husband wasn't impressed either with what he got either- said it was kind of like Mexican food...

When u have a hard day, u want to order and go home. Well we did that. We order the same thing every time cuz we know that's what we like. I understand everyone needs a job even people who don't know english but place people where they r the strongest during busy times. I called and ordered the food. I asked two separate questions for our two meals. Nacho always comes in 2containers...idk y. Can u put them both in one container? Also on the enchiladas, can they please put melted cheese not shredded? Simple right?

Nope. All the nachos came separate and why did they give us white SHREDDED cheese? Normally it comes with nacho cheese, occasionally it comes with shredded yellow cheese. No we got shredded white cheese. They give chips and salsa, we asked for the hotter salsa and give back the mild. It was like pulling teeth. Like literally u GIVE this to us. I didn't order it so give what we like or pay for. The last ten times we've ordered this 6 times has been wrong. They food is great when it's right or the same. We don't pay for your experiments. Restaurant was clean & staff was friendly. Food was good. Loved the homemade flour tortillas. Salsa a bit watery for my liking and a little flavorless, but had a little kick & chopped onions which made it good. The chips were thick, which i love. Our waiter? Well, he was HORRIBLE. He would forget EVERYTHING.. We had to wait for sugar, coffee & other items after repeatedly reminding him. We eventually got up to search & collect our own condiments & napkins. After his horrible service, he was left a $20 tip. Somehow our total was off by $1 & he came back to our table & brought it up to the party paying's attention. He smiled, apologized & gave the waiter a thumbs up & while walking away happy, he asked me in front of EVERYONE at the table AND the party that paid "if he (the party that paid) never went to school or what?" Which was HORRIBLE, RUDE & EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL. I'm usually someone that handles that immediately. We just had a wonderful time at the beach with family & kids & chose to walk away.
