First off this probably isn't going to stop you from getting a drink here or anywhere else on property. However Im going to tell you this for your own hard earned cash benefit. I make drinks at home and follow the recipes exactly and measure everything out. One normal drink with 2oz (that most of the tiki drinks here claim to contain) will give you a mild buzz. Here after quickly downing various beverages nothing. It's just sugar water loaded with empty calories. If you think your drink is weak tell them to measure your alcohol in a jigger. You should get what you pay for. 13-15$ then they ask for a 18-22% tip. The inside trader sams and another place on property we're the only 2 remaining places that made decent drinks worthy of the expense. However upon our october 18 trip both the inside and outside of Polynesian bars have both succumb to the pinching of alcohol profits on property. Hold them...
Read moreWhile park hopping from EPCOT to Magic Kingdom, I wanted to get one more cocktail. I stepped off the resort monorail at the Polynesian and followed the signs to Trader Sam's Grog Grotto but found out there was a hour and a half wait. The ladies inside the Grotto directed me outside to Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace. Same drinks without the wait. There were many tables outside with umbrellas. They had Complimentary Water (so Complimentary it told me I looked nice). There was someone performing music on the patio as well, but at a pleasant volume. You could still enjoy a conversation and hear the music. On a day less sweltering, I'd definitely be happy to chill on the terrace and enjoy the views and island vibes. From the Terrace, I went to the launch to enjoy a boat ride to Magic Kingdom. I will definitely make this a regular stop when park hopping. I recommend the Spiced...
Read moreI did not get to go inside since there was a 3 hour wait. Expect to wait about 2 to 5 hours to get inside. They make it convenient by sending you a text when your table is ready. I think it's catered more to patrons that are staying on property which makes sense. You can simply go back to your room or hang out at the resort until your table is ready. If you're not staying on property and want to hang out at the bar, then you'll have to sit around and wait which is not logical in my opinion. You can't call ahead and reserve a table either. I'm not sure it's worth it to wait 2-5 hours to hang out inside the bar. From what I could see, it's a small place. Probably good for tourists. Drinks are pricey and small but service is good. The...
