Went with my partner's family, as it is a local favorite. Very old school, standard diner experience with a lovely atmosphere. I was able to try the asopao de pollo (chicken stew), pechuga a la milanesa (chicken parm), tostones, and sopa de platano (plantain soup). Service was a bit slow, but it was nearing closing time when we visited. They were accommodating to us having 2 children in our party of 7. My partner (who is from the island) noted that the tostones should have been crunchier, but I enjoyed them thoroughly as a tourist to the area. The asopao was a bit salty, so bear that in mind if you're intending on trying this dish. The pechuga a la milanesa is large and extremely tasty, I was quite jealous of my partner as they chowed down on it....
Read moreTerrible service even though there was only one other table with customers when we were there. The manager spent the entire time socializing with the other table. She never checked on our waitress or checked with us to see if we were okay. My asopao was nothing more than chicken in broth with a little bit of rice, not a rich asopao that I expected. I only ate half and requested to take the rest to go. After paying, my to go food still hadn't arrived. The waitress forgot and discarded my food. She said the kitchen was giving me a replacement doggy bag. They gave me a about a half serving of broth, no chicken, no rice.
