Good evening.

I recently sent you an email at YOUR request as a follow up for my negative review. . I received a message back stating my email was deleted without being read. Your customer service is horrible. At least have the decency to reply. Deleting an email without even reading it is just a slap in my face. I will find out who to send this to in corporate also.

We decided to give the Black Bear Diner a try for the first time. Arriving at the diner we noticed it was very busy and only waited about 5 minutes for a table. A server took our drink order rather quickly.

It was several minutes before another server came and took our food order. My husband ordered the surf and turf, asking for his steak to be medium rare. I ordered the chicken fingers with french fries.

When we finally received our food it was all cold. My husband's steak came out well done and tasted old. My chicken strips looked and tasted like frozen strips I buy at the grocery store. Both of our french fry orders were cold also.

Our waitress popped by the table (without stopping) one time to ask if we needed more drinks. Before we could answer she was gone. She came by one more time asking if we needed anything and we requested boxes for our food and the check. She returned with the check and laid it on the table. She did not bring the boxes we asked for.

We sat at our table another 15 minutes waiting on boxes and for her to take our debit card to pay. We finally asked another staff member if we could pay for our meal and she informed us that we pay at the register. We did not know this being our first time there. By this time we were pretty upset about the whole experience at the diner so we went and paid at the register.

The cashier at the register asked how our meal was. We let her know that we were not happy with our food and all she said was she was sorry. I feel like at that point she should have requested the manager or someone to come speak with us about our experience at that time. It felt like she just blew us off.

I normally do not send feedback to a restaurant even if the food and service are bad. I just never go back. The more I thought about our experience at the diner, the more it upset me and I felt a strong need to send the feedback.

I had invited my parent out to eat since it something new in Baytown I decided to take them here. I know regret that decision… Once the food came out we were missing my fathers plate, my order was missing the pancakes and my sisters order had the wrong eggs (she had egg whites they gave her scrambled eggs). I told the server and she said she would go check on it 15 minutes passed she came back with just the egg whites and asked if we needed anything else and I told her again that we are still missing my fathers whole plate and about the egg whites, she apologized and went back to the grill. Another 10 minutes passed and she came back with just the pancakes that I was missing and we were still missing my father’s plate. At this point we were all almost done with our food and my father’s plate was still not out. Another server came by to check see if we wanted more coffee and I told her no but we were still waiting for my fathers food and she was like I’ll go check on it I told her how ridiculous this was because I felt really bad that I invited them out to eat and he had to just watched everyone else eat. Also all the other tables around us that came after us all got there food meanwhile we were still waiting for his food over 40 minutes. She asked if I wanted speak with manager and I was like sure why not, I normally don’t like to make a big deal about something but the fact that I invited them out to eat and got that terrible service. She told me manager was busy with something but will be over once he was done with another table. As we continued to wait his food finally came out and guess what it was wrong too. He had order sunny side eggs and they brought scrambled I told the server and she apologized and took his plate back and my father told her just pack it to go because everyone was already done eating we had been there for a hr at that point. I shared my food with him because I knew he was hungry and I felt so terrible for the whole situation. Manager came over and discounted his plate for the inconvenience. Let's start this review with the outside look. I love the way the building looks very clean and so fancy. Once inside, the feel is like a normal breakfast/dinner restaurant. However, I love the little gift shop at the front entrance. The whole inside atmosphere is beautiful. The decorations to the details engraved on the chairs at the bar area. Just love it all. My server was DESIRAE, and she provides excellent customer service. She is very honest when it comes to asking about a certain dish. She was attentive and helpful. Her wonderful customer service really made my day. Now to the food. Oh my! I feel I had the best dish at the table. That white cheddar mac and cheese with grilled chicken breast was phenomenal! I will definitely order again. I highly recommend this dish. The chicken is juicy and seasoned perfectly. Not to mention, it's the perfect tenderness. The mac n cheese is creamy, not too salty, but does have a delicious flavor. Overall, I'm very pleased with this visit. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Desirea, for the wonderful service. You serviced all your tables very well. As I was watching, you were constantly going and going to caring for all your tables and then cleaning up in the back. That's the beauty of an open kitchen.
