EDIT IS DOWN BELOW
I planned on ordering the 4 bacon wrapped shrimp with mixed veggies, but I was told that I couldn't do that. I asked the waitress what she meant and she said I could have the other 3 (out of 4) sides but I couldn't have the mixed veggies.
She didn't say "let me see what I can do" or anything like that, I just got a "NO"... I ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
I also got three different wait staff in the short time I was there, they all said the same thing, "hi, I'm waiter, I'll be your server today"... I really wasn't sure what was going on, but very unorganized. I got asked 3 times what I wanted to drink.
I couldn't believe how much they didn't care for my service. I've been really looking forward to trying Mambo's for a while now, and I can honestly say I won't be back.
The atmosphere is also horrible. They clearly tried to get as many tables as possible in the area that they had (understandable, but a this place felt crowded, and I went around 3pm when they had little business). They had the bus boys walking around the entire time holding they cleaning supplies and it felt awkward, especially considering the had maybe only 8 tables eating at the time.
Really underwhelming, I won't be back. To many other options in the same area for me to take a 2nd chance on a restaurant that won't offer a simple solution to 'side item' issue.
EDIT
So, my family and I decided to give this place another shot as we were really in the mood for seafood.
After eating, none of us were satisfied. We just felt that the food left a lot to be desired. Nothing special at all. Service was 100x better than our first visit, but the food was very much along the lines of "you get what you pay for". My daughter got the popcorn shrimp and it seemed like it was under fried or something. Not under cooked, but the crust on the shrimp was soggy and falling off. She wasn't able to eat it.
They are priced correctly in terms of the amount of food you get, but it just seems like you would be much better off going somewhere else. Honestly, the rolls they give you with your order, and the fries my child got with her shrimp were the best things that we ate.
We spent $30 on 3 raw oysters, 2 meals, 1 child's meal, and 1 margarita. Again, it was nothing special at all.... And the rice that everyone raves about is just Chinese style Shrimp Fried Rice. I absolutely cannot understand what is so amazing about it. They even have soy sauce at the table, lol.
I don't know... Prices are right for the amount you get, but the quality could be better. We won't be back.
Go to Captain D's, or any other seafood place. This one is not...

The ambience of the place is not all that great. It reminds me of an Army mess hall on the inside. The place is clean although I did not check out the restroom and thus cannot comment on it.
The patio is nice, complete with ultra vision views of Interstate 10 with all the wonderful road noise to go along with it (see photo). Be ready to talk very loudly if you want to have a conversation. The patio should have been place on the backside of the resturant and made a garden atmosphere.
The food was nothing spectacular. Came with a roll reminence of what you might get in a public school cafeteria. Fish fillets reminded me of some frozen from the grocery store and thrown into a fryer. The shrimp were paper thin with less calories in one than you might get from a cockroach. The fish they show on their menu photo surely does not look like what you actually get (see photos). Food seems standard fair fast food "seafood" like you would get at Captain D's.
All in all, I would eat there again in Baytown if I did not have the choice of Baytown seafood. If in a hurry, Mambos is an okay squat and gobble.⁹ and therefore gets my squat-n-gobble award for better than nothing. (edit: To manager, I never said the place was bad. It is only average. would eat there again but I do stand behind what I say about the food being on par with typical fast food seafood such as...
Read moreNew location in Baytown and decide to give it the chain restaurant another chance. We placed our order, and like always my order is always forgotten. told my waitress and brings me a cold soup! I tell her my soup is cold so then takes it and the manager brings me a hot soup (Upgraded my size to a bigger serving for the wait). Then my waitress brings me another soup! Lack of communication! My husband loves this restaurant but the customer service has always been horrible. I decided to go again! Same thing happened! My order is never placed! Waitress brings out everyone on my table their meal except for mine. Once again I bring it to their attention. Promised myself to not go again! I had family over and they wanted seafood, and being that this is the only seafood restaurant in Baytown, we go for the third time. ONCE AGAIN, lack of communication with the staff!! My order ONCE AGAIN forgotten. My family member ordered fried fish with a missing piece of fish (Market price) and he didn't get his sides. When we brought it to the waitress attention she kindly brought the sides and told the manager about the fish. The manager comes out and LITERRALY started arguing with my family member! His tone of voice escalated very quickly! Once again, I will never eat here again! 3 attempts and still LACKING...
