Not that Floyd's needs anymore reviews, but I hope its helpful.

Situation: Had a great meal with the family today at Floyd's Seafood.

Background: I'm from Montana, new to the area, was told I must eat here if I wanted to try real fresh seafood. Besides freshwater fish, fresh seafood is something of a rarity from my neck of the woods. Having said that, I can count all the times I've eaten seafood in my life on 2 hands. So just keep that in mind as you read this review :)

Assessment:

Cleanliness 3.5/5 The menus had a few crumbs, the table was slightly sticky, and the floor needed cleaned. However, this was the middle of the day and I can understand skipping a sweeping here and there in order to get the diners served first (they were kinda busy).

Service 5/5 Service was everything you would expect. Great attention to refills, checking back with us, delivering the check promptly, etc. Great job.

Deliciousness 4.5/5 We had the fried zucchini, crab bisque, Mahi tacos, with sides of fried okra and hushpuppies. We also ordered bread pudding and chocolate mousse cake for dessert. Let me just say... that fried zucchini is now my favorite dish since I've been here! I am literally searching for a copycat recipe! I could get fat in a day if I had an endless plate option. Remember how I said that I have limited experience with seafood? Well, although seafood is not really something that I crave, I can say that I am in the "trying to learn to like it" phase in our relationship. With that being said, I could tell by the textures, seasonings, presentation, and so on that the crab bisque was excellent. I personally like crab with lemon juice alone and nothing else. That's right, no butter, garlic, etc. That's just me though. If you have a taste for crab you will love this. I just added lemon juice from the lemon on my drink to each spoonful I took and it was delicious. I can eat basically anything on a taco so, the Mahi was good. It was tender and well seasoned. The fried okra (again, new to me) was a pleasant surprise. However, the hushpuppies were a bit over cooked but not burnt. The bread pudding was delicious. You could tell that a lot of care was taken to turn it into a little slice of heaven. On the other hand, the cake was store bought. Big bummer for me because I was hoping for the same level of loving ingredients that went into the bread pudding. One more item for thought... my level for heat/spice flavor enjoyment for peppers is at Jalapeno. If it goes beyond that, its just hot and flavorless to me. My wife is about half that (like an Anaheim maybe). My kid loves black pepper but nothing hotter. I would say, judging by the complaints of spice, that the food landed right in the middle of their levels and I enjoyed it all.

Recommendation: Get out of your chair and go to Floyd's! You will not regret it. There are enough menu items to visit regularly and sample a wide variety, and to keep it simple enough for the kitchen to continually produce that delicious factor in the food.

Thanks for reading. Y'all...

I love Floyd's and have been a patron of them for over 20 years. My favorite location is the original in Webster and Friendswood/Pearland is not far behind that one. I have been to this location a few times before moving to this area and now that we're over here it's our closest location. Although the food and staff and service here are good, my heart is still with the Webster location mainly because I just knew all of my servers. Including Manuel for whom there are a couple of menu items named after! A lot of times my wife and I just mainly eat items off of the appetizer menu. The Catfish pieces, fried Alligator, and the seafood stuffed jalapenos are our favorites especially if our 9 year old is with us, he loves the fried alligator as much as we do, maybe more. But I always start my meal with one or two dozen oysters on the half shell. I'm days of old, I'm talking about a few years back. About every seafood house that served oysters on the half shell served them by the Baker's Dozen, which is thirteen oysters on your serving tray. I guess because of such high prices I find very few that do that any more. Floyd's was always good about that. Not so much anymore. Also, the oysters my wife and I were served the other day would have been illegal to have been harvested from the bay. I know those oysters were so small they wouldn't have made the 3" inch minimum! I thought it, but my wife said it!!! The oysters we were served the other day were extremely small. At any rate, we decided to order a dinner before we left and we were going to take our appetizers that were left home. I ordered the fried oysters dinner with fries and my wife ordered grilled shrimp and veggies off of the lunch menu. Her shrimp were perfect and she loved them, but my oysters were so dang tiny after being fried it was very disappointing. Especially paying market price for juvenile oysters on a huge mound of French Fries. I didn't know where they get their oysters, but if I were the one receiving them I would have sent them back or notified TP&W about undersized oysters. This is right in the middle of Texas' oyster season and selling oysters that are about an inch long after frying is just a travesty. Other than that, everything else we had...

Good food and great service. But I would not recommend going for dinner.

We went for lunch once, and the food was incredible! We started with the Chef's Oyster Nachos, which were phenomenal. I wish there were more per serving. Then I ordered the Bar Trash Grilled Cheese as my entree, per the waiter's recommendation. Highly recommend the grilled cheese for lunch!! So good!!

Based on our first experience, we took another trip to Beaumont and dined here for dinner. Walking in the door, the service wasn't great despite the restaurant not appearing to be half as busy as the time we came for lunch, but we were eventually seated. Our waiter was decent. However, our meals were less than desirable. We went with the seafood fondue as an appetizer, which was great, but our entrees were anything but. I ordered the fried fish with shrimp etouffee on top. But instead, received, what tasted like, frozen fried fish that had been reheated with extra large boiled shrimp with very bland etouffee sauce poured on top. Being from Louisiana, I was really looking forward to the etouffee but was instead left incredibly disappointed in this attempt. My companion ordered the Bar Trash Grilled Cheese, and the cheese wasn't even melted. It was completely solid, as if it was taken directly out of the refrigerator and placed in the sandwich. Other than the appetizer, the entire meal was completely unappetizing. Even the drinks were terrible. Ordered the ranch water, which was flat, so it tasted like cheap tequila with tap water. Definitely won't be returning for dinner nor do I recommend...

Yesterday we celebrated my friend’s Birthday here. She suggested to eat at Floyd’s . It is a Cajun restaurant. The food and the service is outstanding. We ate the blackened salmon with gnocchi and different kinds of oysters. The gnocchi is made here from scratch , the salmon was cooked to perfection and the size is very generous. Mr. Willie grilled our oysters and they were amazing. He also gave us a complementary taste of his fried rice.My mouth is watering up just thinking of it. It should be on the menu! They offer a variety of desserts, and they are available to view and choose from, presented on a dessert table. We ate at the bar, and the service by Ms. Vanessa was excellent. We were treated as family. The decor and lighting evokes a sense of warmth, authenticity, and the vibrant spirit of and the Louisiana. The lighting is warm and inviting. The food was delicious, the service was exceptional and the atmosphere was delightful. Thank you all for the wonderful experience! Definitely coming back!

Gumbo - Seafood Baked Oysters 🦪 Shrimp Platter 🍤 Crab - Blue bbq I can say that the Baked charcoal oysters were amazing! The best I have had in my life. the charcoal makes it different for sure. I am already craving it back again. The Seafood Gumbo was so so ... like nothing amazing or special. Would not order as it can stuff you up. The shrimp platter was a great... like all options are available for you try out and the mashed potatoes were to die for.... Now the Blue Crab and that amazing seasoning... I was in Food Heaven for sure!!! Our server Kathleen at the Bar was amazing! loved her energy she was so positive and attentive... If you enjoy seafood please stop by 🤍🦪🍤 you will not regret.
