W O W
Blow away here a little bit. This review has taken a day or 2 to be finished because I want to do this place justice.
I love Chicken and Fish places. I assume they are traditional and along the whole Chicago style. This is NOT that, and in an EXTREMELY good way.
I wanted to get some wings (salt and pepper) and some plain fried rice. These arenât something that normal C&F places have. I was curious. After noticing they had gizzards on the menu plans diverted and this is where it gets really good.
The lovely lady at the counter talked me into ordering waaay more gizzards than I needed (in a good way). These things are fantastic leftover. They become MORE tender overnight in the fridge.
Letâs get into the real review.
Chicken wings: super moist, tender, and the breading is a cross between southern style and Korean style. Superbly done as well. Flakey, crispy, crunchy, and seasoned well.
Fried rice: well seasoned, fluffy, and soft. If you are a fan of fried rice I would come here just for it.
Gizzards: I am a traveler that seeks out gizzards. Fresh they were a bit hard with the connective tissue, they were juicy and tender in the meaty parts. Breading was A+++.
I am a fan of morning cold right of of the fridge gizzards. They excelled in that category. I had them 2 days after and warmed them up just a bit, and even though they lost the crisp they became even more tender. I would eat them like this all day every day.
This is fried chicken with an Asian flair and I love it!
Will be back the next time I am in the area for sure!
Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!!
I forgot about the fries. HIGHLY recommend those...
Read moreSooo, I ordered fried oysters and garden salad. I got fish reeking pencil erasers dipped in hot grease and warm yellowing bagged lettuce with what I'm guessing was watered down ranch dressing. "Why warm lettuce," you wonder? Because the beautiful minds at Kickin' Chicken were good enough to place it side by side in the same container with the pencil erasers. The words "culinary abortion" surged to mind, yet somehow seemed inadequate. Maybe it's my fault for ordering fried seafood from a place specializing in fried chicken and seafood. Maybe it's my fault for assuming an establishment offering an entree featuring a garden salad would know how to assemble and present a garden salad. I'm not a chef, I don't know. I do know that I award you no stars (save the one required to post this), and pray that God have mercy...

Cooked up, served hot, with packets of condiments. Shrimp and Chicken covered in a medium thick batter, large amounts of S&P and scallion shreds. Crunchy, neutral batter flavor, juicy meats, each tasting as expected. Heat, garlic, salt and honest pepper sting and tingle. Rice provided is abundant, al dente, tasting round and rich. Nothing missing and nothing âextraâ in flavor. Nice meal, Solid Quality-Price Ratio....
