2nd time visiting the Mason Jar! 1st time I would rate a 4* . As you will see all the other reviews are rated high.
2nd visit they receive a 1* . Tuesday evening, extremely busy...Holly the bar manager was our waitress. We order Grilled cheese with tomato bisque soup and husband order the cubania. with a side salad.
Food came, and the tomato bisque soup tasted almost like a squash soup, very bland...not so tasty....after immediately test tasting it I advised the waitress (Holley) it no way tasted like tomato bisque, her response what can I get you as an " replacement"?
She immediately removed the soup from our table, and I was left to order a replacement. I ordered a side Salad , thinking It would replace the soup.
Keep in mind the side salad was rather small small, but either way was suitable with the grilled cheese.
When the bill arrived, I was appalled to see that she had charged me an additional $1.00 for the side salad.
The grilled cheese and soup was already $11.00. When I questioned this, she threw the menu in my face and stated there was an upcharge for a side salad.
I stated I thought the side salad was a replacement for the soup, she said no. I asked about getting my soup back to take home, since I was charged the uncharge for the salad, her immediate response was...I threw your soup out, if you want your soup you will need to pay for it! Really I already am paying for it????.
Bottom line to this story is, the Mason Jar customer satisfaction is horrible and they are only about making the next dollar... nickel and dining the customer. The proper way to have handled this would have been to advise me that there would be an upcharge for the salad, and have left the soup, allowing me to make the decision to take it or leave it.,
Needless to say for a grilled cheese, side salad, and my husbands cuban sandwich with a side salad, our bill exceed 55.00....And to be honest it was just ok in taste....
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/SATISFACTION AND THE FOOD IS JUST OK!!!!
We will not be patronizing this establishment again.......STAY CLEAR or beware of the portion and what you order/replace your food with!!!
ALL THEY ARE CONCERNED ABOUT is TAKING YOUR MONEY..CUSTOMER SATISFACTION FOR THE MOST MINOR Thing AS A REPLACEMENT SALAD WAS ABOUT ADDING TO YOUR BILL...
Such a shame, especially when there are so many other establishments to patronize, with one opening directly across the street from them rather soon. Trust me, I will go elsewhere before going back here again.....
8/3/21 After failing to return repeated phone calls after the above incident in 2019.... The owner finally responded , below to my original post above, after two (2) years. only to say " we do not have these items on our menu" Of course , you don't since you waited 2 years to acknowledge this post....still haven't been back nor will we......
UPDATE TO OWNERS RESPONSE: They do not have these items on there menu....???? LAME RESPONSE: Again it took you 2 YEARS to EVEN RESPOND. If your response was all that you could think of to post, to only make your establishment look good, I'm assuming its because due to the time delay in response, you updated your menu removing these plus other items. Haven't been back in this establishment since my post and have heard MANY similar complaints...
Read moreI was lamenting to a coworker how the best burger I've had in a while is six hours away in the UP of Michigan so she said her friend was raving about Mason Jar Tap & Grill in Lambertville, about a 15 to 20 minute easy drive from Toledo. They have an outdoor patio, did all the CDC protocol through the pandemic, treated their workers fairly and shut down when one worker tested positive last year, and their food is amazing. Sounded good to me.
The restaurant is located on a somewhat busy intersection with what looks like three other bar grills, but I'm so glad I went to this one on my coworker's recommendation. The patio was clean and spacious and nicely decorated, although the seating and tables were just metal mesh patio furniture. Still, pretty comfortable and I imagine the hanging lighting would be pretty at night.
I got the THATS MY JAM BURGER, a garlic aioli, lettuce, cheddar cheese, bacon jam, on a brioche bun burger that came with crispy perfect parmesan garlic fries. Best juicy burger I've had in ten years, AND they got the temperature right on my burger, a simple but great thing when the restaurant does it just right at medium rare. The fries were crispy and hot to the touch but salty and soft on the inside. I enjoyed the parmesan and garlic fries, a nice go from the usual plain fries served at other establishments.
When I was visiting the first time with my mother, I noticed a wood fire barbeque smell coming from the back of the restaurant and asked the server what it was. She told us it was one of their best sellers, the campfire chicken wings. So, on my second visit, my friend and I tried them. Juicy, smoky, dusted with some sort of sweet salt and served with homemade blue cheese sauce. Definitely worth sharing with a friend while waiting for the main course. It came with a couple chopped veggie sticks and some somewhat flavorless coleslaw that could definitely be left off the plate as they didn't add anything to the dish.
They post weekly chef's specials on their Facebook page with what looks like amazing unique desserts although I never have room after my meal. Need to try a new burger? This is the place. And try the...
Read moreThis was a very mediocre experience and not good customer service. When we got our menus, they were sopping wet as if someone had just pulled them out of a sink full of water which was kind of gross to us. They were literally dripping water. When I mentioned it to the waitress, her response was we wash them and sanitize them between each customer, dismissing my request to get new menus, in a very condescending manner. While I completely understand washing them, the question I guess I should’ve asked her was; so you skipped the last step which is drying them?
If everything else was great I wouldn’t have even mentioned this, but the food was not good, when we ordered the Aji tuna appetizer I was hoping she would ask how we wanted it prepared and she did not and I forgot to specify so it was completely raw, which I would’ve preferred medium rare. The food was average and the menu selection was extremely limited and that’s very disappointing. I ordered a 7/7 and it was super watered down and sweet because it was practically all 7-Up and when I mentioned something about maybe making the next one a little bit stronger she once again became argumentative with me and said that’s how they do it if I wanted more I could order a double which I did not want to do; not because of the extra money but because that would’ve been too strong. So this waitress just needs to learn how to handle customers instead of always wanting to argue even if she feels she’s right there’s a way to speak to customers besides making them feel like they’re idiots for asking questions. She was the heavyset dark-haired waitress, I do not get her name.
It’s been a while since we’ve been to this restaurant but I definitely know that they had a lot more selections back the last time we were there as apposed to this time so I don’t know if it’s new ownership or management or what m, but we will not be coming back which is sad as we live less than 10 minutes away.
I still tipped her 20%, because she was friendly aside from those few times, but I would’ve given her more like a 30% tip how to give them a better service. I may complain sometimes but I...
