Just out for a back roads drive on way back from Philadelphia area and saw this place and decided to stop....what a great place! Had the beet salad and a cheeseburger (intended on taking half of both home but the burger was soo good couldn't stop eating it took 3/4 of salad home but it took was perfectly made) Companion hade fried chicken and kept saying "this is the best I've had in years!" It had a bar area with maybe 20 stools the rest of "floor" nicely laid out with various table sizes nicely spaced there is a step up area with more tables along the windows that looks out beyond a deck to beautiful scenery of trees and fields..yes there is outside eating on covered deck...it appears there was a covered event pavilion and saw signage for live music. service was quick and friendly though it was not very crowded (there were only maybe 4-5 other parties) Coming from the one direction driveway is hidden (sign says 500 feet ahead)for it is right at the curve so be prepared to miss the driveway but there is a small second drive you can utilize. Due to curve very difficult to take left...
Read moreBoy did I ignore all the red flags. I'm currently sitting in an empty restaurant writing this. My wife and are are the only ones in here. The beer selection is abysmal. It clearly caters to the clientele this place attracts. This place is filthy. Please clean your restaurant. We started with the pineapple habanero Brie. Slice of melted Brie on a plate with pineapple jam probably Smuckers. No Habanero. I asked the waiter if he had the duck. Response was "the duck eats good". Despite that red flag i ordered the Duck anyway, she ordered the Ribs. Both were clearly precooked and re-heated, probably cooked days ago (wishful thinking at best). The duck was burnt, extremely dry and disgusting. I love duck, and this was almost inedible. The ribs were rubbery, flavorless, and hard to eat. The potatoes were also reheated and dried out. The duck was supposed to have a berry sauce....which was actually cranberry fruit, not sauce, also probably from the local supermarket. Vegetable has Zero seasoning and we're completely undercooked. Stay away...
Read moreWent here for lunch on a day trip & came back for dinner later on because it was so good!
Appetizers were great (fried pickles and zucchini are what we tried.)
Atmosphere gives the vibe of family owned, close knit group of people who are hardworking, kind & supportive to each other. No doubt this place has some history and looks like they do a beautiful catering spread based on photos.
Some fun impressive cacti in the foyer. Second time we went there was live music and it was super good music & fun to watch everyone enjoy themselves. They made space for us on the porch regardless of whether we had a reservation. Fast service, amazing food and friendly people. They seem involved in the community & invested in philanthropy.
Definitely would go back.
If you’re first time visiting I’d recommend the chicken and waffles. The waffles literally melt in your mouth and it is probably the best rendition of this dish I’ve had to date.
Thank you for a great...
