Steam and Spoon Cafe — Restaurant in Beeville

It's one of the worst places I've ever eaten at, incredibly disappointing in contrast to the many positive reviews it has.

Let me talk about the soup. You can just tell from the picture, it's this lumpy, gloopy abomination. It looks and tastes like it came out of a can. The fact that it was served in a styrofoam bowl just makes the whole thing scream mediocrity. If you were served a soup that looked and tasted like poorly diluted canned soup in a styrofoam container, you can't help but feel underwhelmed.

Let's talk about the eggs benedict also pictured here. As you can plainly see, the hollandaise sauce is broken. There's no excuse for that on its own, but to make matters worse, the poached egg's yolk wasn't rich and runny, it was chewy and crumbly, like it was boiled hard.

This place had two chances to impress, and they only made us depressed instead. I think the pictures here speak for themselves. Would you be happy if you were served this? If the answer is yes, Steam & Spoon is...

Give these folks your business! I was here grabbing dinner with coworkers. We came in during a quiet hour for them, so we were the only people there. The chefs Gio(?) and John were so friendly. They gave us a detailed run through of the specials & helped my friend customize her order to suit her dietary restrictions.

The food was so delicious. I did not know soup and a sandwich could hit like this. They also gave us free refills on our iced tea, offered us a refill on the soup, and made great conversation with us.
