Mi Casa in Belleville Illinois is a family-owned local Mexican restaurant with wonderful staff, food and all at a very good price. We make it a point to eat local as much as we can and this is one of our favorites and one of the best Mexican places in the area. Above all, their margaritas are an absolute must for those who like them. Not watered-down like a lot of places around, and plenty of tequila at, a gain, a very good price. Between my family, my parents and friends, we've traveled the menu up and down and have yet to be disappointed. It is, as you would expect from a small family-owned business. Well-made food (the salsa is awesome) and with portions plenty big enough to make you pass on desserts (which are also very good, if you can find room). The staff is always very friendly and happy to serve and make friends, my Dad has become pals with a couple of the guys down there and is treated to the occasional drink or two. Mi Casa is quietly one of the best Mexican restaurants in the Belleville area. You will not be disappointed. Also, the place is clean, clean, clean as a whistle, cleaner than many of the large corporate places down the road. You can tell there's pride in what these people do.
Another reviewer claimed it was terrible and worse than Taco Bell. The comparison alone is laughable. There's no basis for a negative review, I just...
Read moreFirst time here and for the most part, everything was great. Friendly staff. Food was great. HOWEVER, epic fail on the HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY and willingness to show any concern or desire to resolve the problem.
I use a walker and my mother is in a wheelchair. We parked in handicap spot. The spot between handicap spots has a ramp that is painted w lines, however, it is directly in front of a parking space which is not marked as "no parking" and no lines painted on actual spot. While in restaurant someone parked there, blocking access to the ramp. When we came out of restaurant, we could not use the ramp to get the wheelchair or walker down into parking lot. Had to tip wheelchair w my 75 yr old mom in it, over the curb. When I went inside to let restaurant know this was an issue, i was told "you just need to be patient and wait for them to leave." We should not get trapped at a restaurant waiting. We had other places to be and were forced into a dangerous situation to get down the curb w no ramp.
This business needs to mark the spot w the ramp as "no parking" or paint full spot w lines so that ramp access is preserved and people dont get trapped in the restaurant unable to leave. Or forced to dangerously push a...
Read moreJust left this place. Our order wasn't correct. As we waited for the remainder of the food I advised my child to eat her food. She took one bit and offered me a taste. The food was unsatisfactory! We walk up to the counter to inform the cashier that we dnt want the food. He said, " that's your problem" and tried to force me to pay. He told me that he was calling the cops. I suggested he should. Waiter then comes out and take a picture of my car. At this time I'm placing a call to Belleville Police department. Cops arrive and hear my account of what transpired. Cops then go inside to speak with the cashier. Cops return to talk to me with the "Owner". I explained to the owner what happened. He apologized and offered to make me another order. He also said, " come back anytime-i'll be here". He also apologized for his employees unprofessional behavior. However, you dnt get to try an bully me then call the authorities on means my child; as If we wasn't gonna pay.
And to the wrinkled Karen with stringy over processed frizzy blonde bob who felt the need to tell me I should be ashamed of myself- God is good and he was...
