Amsden House Restaurant — Restaurant in Bellevue

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ve been here several times and had inconsistent experiences. I’ve had slow/no service before. I’ve had quick service. Most of the waitresses are generally nice. (I’ve only met 2). One is always nice, the other maybe it depends on her mood. Most of the time I get good food. I usually get a perch sandwich which is always good, but I’ve had undercooked fries before and the coleslaw is just ok. Today I went there not wanting fried food so I got a western omelette. I was torn between a few omelettes. But I decided on the western. I was the only person in there but someone came to pick up a carry out order. I felt the food took long considering that. I wanted sourdough toast, but was told it would cost more so I opted for rye. The western omelette was already $7 with just toast, no other side. I get my omelette. First of all it’s very well done. When I think of an omelette I think of a lightly colored, light and fluffy meal. I stick my fork in it and don’t see any cheese right away so I dig around a little. No cheese. I ask the waitress if it comes with cheese. She says no and asks if I want to add cheese. Uh, no. It’s already $7. She also informs me that any place she’s ever worked western omelettes don't have cheese in them. Ummm, ok. Maybe I’m wrong (I don't think so, but I’ll google it). Can’t find any recipe on the internet including the one that it was derived from that doesn’t include cheese. If you get a western omelette here expect to pay more for cheese. We just moved to Bellevue ,we usually get coffee and muffins from uptown but on the morning of Saturday November 17th we got out of the truck and smelled something wonderful. We followed the smell to this restaurant .When you walk in there is no sign that says wait to be seated or seat yourself so we guessed and had a seat. We sat there for about 5 or 8 mins which then we seen another couple come in and sat down. So another 5 mins or so went by. The waitress comes by and asked if we wanted coffee we said no thank you and without taking our drink order or anything else she just walked away. So then she goes over to a big top table offers them coffee walks back by which then my husband says excuse me we would like some hot tea though. She didn't say much just nodded then goes over to the couple that came in 5-10 mins after us and takes their order. Lol really! ? So she finally brings the tea takes our order walks away. Lol we still at this point don't know her name ,no greeting ,and yet no smile to offer. The food is decent, unfortunately, the service leaves much to be desired. I'm not sure if Serena, our server, was having a bad day but our service today, 6/1/18 was terrible. We sat down and waited for coffee for 10 minutes. I finally had to take my cup to the counter to get coffee. The gentleman bussing tables was kind enough to pour me a cup of coffee. After waiting another 15 minutes, Serena finally came over to take our order. After our food was served, Serena never came up to check on us again. Serena stated she would bring us some more coffee, but did not until I asked her to after she was tending to another table. We asked Serena for a box which she did not bring back to our table. Needless to say I once again had to present at the counter to get a box myself. I also noticed a table that had come in after us and was served their food way before we were. I also noticed Serena being friendly with a trio of men at another table. We've experienced poor service here before from another server, but today was much worse. I will not be returning.
