Absolutely abysmal. We ordered the pork green chile and the carne asada. Before our actual food came out, we were given salsa that was so runny we could hardly scoop it out with chips. When our dishes did come out, the carne asada was in a pool of grease, the beans tasted like they came out of a can, and I watched them MICROWAVE our tortillas before bringing them out. Additionally, the "green chile" that my boyfriend's pork came in was about as thin as water, and soaked through everything else on his plate. It looked like wet dog food. I took a few bites off my plate then stopped eating and refused to take it home in a box. Even though I took only a few bites, I asked them if they still expected me to pay for it and they insisted that I do. I have no idea how this place has such high ratings but all I can think of is that we're SO far from Mexico that locals don't know what it SHOULD taste like. Aside from taste quality, the greasiness alone made me queasy. Not only will I never go here again, I would warn anyone else to never...
Read moreVERY FAST SERVICE.Takeout is fast and my first choice for a big lunch burrito. Delivery available WITH POSTMATES. Nice casual dining experience. Not many restraunts around El rinconcito, so is often a quieter Mexican place, but can get busier during peak hours. Very clean single occupancy bathrooms. Ordered the large combination three enchiladas with pork but they only have chicken or beef so I got the shredded beef. Atmosphere is casual so my son was able to be very loud, and wear the chip bowl on his head for our entertainment. This year I opted not to tell them that it was my birthday because they have a Dusty Sombrero that they bring out for you to wear and sing feliz cumpleanos to you. Free chips and salsa with meal. They are associated with a food truck if you can't get enough. Adjacent stripmall businesses include 7/11, a baby consignment store, a hair dressser and behind is Yorkeys...
Read moreI'm surprised the reviews for this place are so good. Maybe because I lived in San Diego for 8 years, I just have higher standards for Mexican food? Been there twice. For the price, the food is mediocre, and so is the service. The first time I went, ordered take out, and the food was ok, but was charged an extra fee for takeout (who does that?!?). Second time, the food, again, was ok (not great), but both me and my friend got bones in our enchiladas. When we got the cheesecake for dessert, it came out half frozen, and half warm, apparently because they keep it frozen, and then microwave it to serve it. Pretty disappointing! I definitely won't...
