Pho And Thai — Restaurant in Belmont

Meh. Really wanted it to be good. But it fell short of expectations. For appetizers we order chicken satay and freah rolls. The satay never came, our waitress forgot to put it in. The shrimp fresh rolls took about 20 minutes in an empty restaurant. They were bitter from the red lettuce in them, and were decidely lacking in actual shrimp. Of the 8 pieces, 2 had a little shrimp in them. The entrées were pad thai, which was meh, neither good nor bad, and have some noodles which clumped together. The mango curry could have saved the night. The curry sauce was delicious and had chunks of mango in it. Sadly, the dish was deflated by overcooked chicken. Perhaps dividing their attention between pho (none of which are gluten free?) and thai has caused them to not be able to focus and excel at either? I had the WORST Bun (noodle) dish ever in any restaurant or city where I have eaten Vietnamese food. The dish I ordered traditionally comes with a side of uncooked herbs which the diner adds to the dish. There were NO herbs. Plus the fish sauce was watered down to have no flavor. The slices of beef were not grilled and slightly charred. Instead the beef was dark brown, tough, like a beef jerky. I thought maybe the owners and chefs were Thai and didn't know anything about Vietnamese food, but my dining partner had a Phad Thai which was dry--chicken tough. So bad she left half and didn't even want to take it as "carry out." What an odd name--pho is the traditional Vietnamese soup--one dish--but why combine it with a collective regional food. It is like naming a restaurant Apple pie and Mexican.????? I will never return to this...

I’ve eaten here on several occasions because it’s so good it keeps me coming back for more. The owner and entire staff are always so nice and welcoming. They have gone out of the way to custom make some authentic Thai dishes I requested and didn’t even up charge me. The food is simply amazing and always comes out as ordered with huge portions. A Big Bang for your buck. Whether you like it mild, medium or extra spicy they aim to please and will satisfy your cravings.

The restaurant is always very clean with a cozy like atmosphere and seating for about 50 people.
