Like it says "Old Fashion Bakery", it is hard to come by the stuff we got as kids. I tried to find the crawlers I use to get as a child (mom got us one from the Texaco gas station on the corner of 4th street and Portland ave. back in the 60's). No luck but they do have some good old fashion things.
Many places call these crawlers different things like dunking sticks but they are not the same. We visit this bakery when we come to Beloit, we get the crispies, they are the best we have ever had when they are fresh! Today they were fresh, light crispie and oh so good. We have purchased these at our local Woodman’s but they are not as fresh, still good but not OMG fresh!
I looked around for a small cake but the only cakes they had were white cakes with white frosting or chocolate cakes with chocolate frosting. Funny but I wanted a chocolate cake with white frosting, not a fan of chocolate frosting or white cake. Now they may make them the way I like them but I did not find any, so I looked at cupcakes too in hopes of finding something, but nothing.
We did find homemade peanut butter dog bones and bought 2 to try out with our little boys (they loved them). Next trip we will buy more.
Now the one thing I did not know until I got home and looked at the receipt to add it to the check book was the credit card fee! OMG - I did not know they charged a fee and if I had been told this or saw a sign stating they charged a fee, I would have paid cash. It was only 40 cents but still hidden fees are a no no with me. Most places will tell you there is a fee to use your credit card/debit card. I will not forget this the next time we go.
Reviews are supposed to be helpful to both the seller and buyer, so I hope this...

The staff was sure to greet next two people who entered store which just happened to be white. All of a sudden a Hispanic male from the back came out to see if he could help my husband who just so happens to not be white. This is not this first run in with this establishment, their have Ben several occasions that's this same thing happens, do not greet us and or help a customer that came after us. We have spent a good amount of money for poor disrespectful service. At that time we thought oh maybe they are just busy or overworked, so we decided to come back a second time. Only to be treated the exact same way. Made my husband feel invisible and not welcomed. I would caution people not spend a dime with any of these business unless they want to continue to support a biased company that doesn't care about...
Read moreI recently worked there for 2 days. I worked in the back. Prepping with others. Seen too many products prior/after being baked/fried, get dropped on the floor, then added back to baking sheets, pans to sell. One of the "droppers" also warned me of an owner and their excessive talking. Lol. This owner talked to me my first day about shower-bleach treatments for my child. Weird conversation. I left on my second day at 7am on my break. I walked off. I could not be a part of something like that. Now they know why. I do not have anything bad to say about anyone personally. I am speaking on what I saw with my short experience. My family is new to Beloit and we enjoyed eating from this bakery. We are no longer customers either. Again, no hard feelings. Just my experience.
*They care so much for their employees and customers that their response came almost 5 months later. No comments on the bleach treatments...
