Tony's steaks — Restaurant in Benton Township

Tony's dream is to make the best cheese steak sandwich possible in a rural setting. Located on main street in rustic Benton PA Tony's Steaks is nothing more than a garden shed and carport, yet the crew has transformed it into a ShangriLa for Philly style foodies. I like to order a steak on salad as a low carb alternative. It's not on the menu but Tony is very flexible about customizing the food. There are other dinner choices besides the sandwich fare as well. Fish and shrimp, poppers fries and my fav- onion rings. I often look for excuses to drive to Benton to get a take out dinner. There is limited seating outdoors and under the awning when the weather allows. Great place to interact with the locals since Tony's is often the highlight of their day. Bottom line the cheesesteak sandwiches are on par with the better Philly institution's. I don't even know where to begin! I am from Kansas City & was visiting family in Benton. They took me to Tony's and hands down the best philly I have ever had! We have had many steaks in PA while visiting family, but this was by far the best! I got the pizza steak and oh my goodness was it good! We went to Tony's multiple times while in town. Tony was SO personable, friendly, and welcoming. I wish there was a Tony's here in KC because we need to show KC what a real philly is! I bought a Tony's Steaks shirt and I wear it loud and proud here in KC! You know you've hit the jackpot when you can find somewhere with not only great food, but great customer service. Ok...lets get down to business on this review. My family recently bought a mountain home in Benton and when I saw a cheesesteak joint I was cautiously excited. As a self proclaimed connoisseur of the true Philly cheesesteak I regularly search out and drive long distances on the hunt for the perfect sandwich and frequently correct common folk who order steaks with nonsense on them. The merican wit is the greatest sandwich created by man and Tony has darn near perfected it. The roll, the perfectly chopped steak with light grease and melted cheese rivals even the best places in downtown Philly. The good people of Benton can be counted as the lucky people of this great country for the proximity to Tony's. Thank you for your service to the community...
