Terrible and condescending customer service.
A friend and I went for lunch, after placing our order we were served the wrong dishes. The waitress with short hair came to the table and apologized, saying sheâll give us replacements. I proceeded to say âThatâs totally fine, it happens.â This would have been fine if we werenât charged an additional $30 for the meals we didnât order. They had not taken the plates back during the over 30 minutes of waiting for our original meals, nor did they ever ask/mention anything about those plates. We took a few bites while we were waiting that long. We initially got the correct receipt, but when the waitress took the credit card she added $30 without our knowledge, only for us to discover when she returned. (This is sneaky and disgusting. To also note: we had always paid up front, our cards are not usually taken. Therefor this was done intentionally so that we wouldnât find out until the transaction was already completed).
Confronting this, the waitress continued by sticking her fingers in my face and telling me I said things I never had. âYou looked right into my eyes and told me that you were âtotally fineâ keeping and paying for those meals.â I had never said such things, I was being compliant with them making a mistake, I was trying to cause them the least stress possible. I thought this feeling was mutual but apparently not.
Then an additional employee started to join in and also made her own commentary with a lot of attitude. I donât know if itâs satisfying taking money from college students but we tried to cooperate. We ended up just paying and leaving since we felt defeated in the moment. My friend was also on his lunch break, which this situation made him late getting back to work.
I know my business doesnât make a difference as an individual, but I wonât be returning to eat there on the occasional time that I decide to eat out. I work in retail, I am not angry about the initial problem. Iâm disappointed in how the situation was handled, as the employees decided to retaliate instead of proceeding in a professional manner. I would be embarrassed if I saw this happening in my workplace, as employees should be the face of the business.
This may not make a difference but this is the only way I am able to exhibit my voice, especially since I was continuously being shut down in...

Read moreMariaâs is a great local spot for Mexican food with some definite highlights. The tableside guac is insanely goodâdefinitely the best thing on the menu, so donât skip it! Their homemade tortillas are awesome too, super fresh and tasty. The steak fajitas hit the mark, though the chicken can be a little dry. The queso wasnât our favorite, but the horchata is really goodâsweet and super refreshing.
Service is really friendly, but things move a little slow, so be ready to wait a bit. The salsa isnât spicy at all, so if you like heat, you might want to ask for something extra. Prices are pretty reasonable, which is a big plus. All in all, itâs a chill place with solid food and a few things that really stand out. Great for a...
