Disappointed in the service that my family received. We stopped to get my daughter ice cream on our way home from the upper peninsula. I ordered a vanilla old fashioned soda. It tasted like nothing, it had no vanilla flavor at all. My husband asked if we could get another flavor because it truly tasted like nothing. The staff proceeded to tell us that she was not the one that waited on us and that there was not a vanilla flavored soda. My husband had to point it out on the board that it clearly says vanilla as a soda flavor. She then told us that she thinks it is just a small amount of vanilla ice cream and soda water. She didn’t let us exchange flavor and made it seem like we were in the wrong. When ordering my husband had to say vanilla three times. I truly don’t think that the soda was made right. Exceptionally delicious homemade ice cream using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible...familiar flavors like vanilla bean and butter pecan, but also really interesting local flavors like honey...a mixed berry that includes specialty fruits like juneberries and currants from a local grower along with the usual raspberries, blueberries, etc. We once even enjoyed an amazing tomato sorbet here ( fruity, not savory). Shakes and other drinks available, as,well as ice cream by the container. Whenever we are anywhere near Benzonia, this is a must stop. Hiking Sleeping Bear or just driving thru, make sure to get in on the fantastic homemade goodies. Delicious home made ice cream. My favorites are the Toasted Coconut, Chocolate Peanutbutter, and their Salted Caramel. Yummmmmm Also homemade donuts (cinnamon are fantastic) and homemade macaroons I haven't had a chance to taste yet! Coffees as well. Plus a drive thru window if you prefer to stay in your car. Wonderful small town ambience in their shop. Beautiful plant and gift store adjoining to...
