I will NOT be returning. The food can be tasty, if you catch them on a good day. I've given this establishment more than one . . .more than two. . .more than three occasions to redeem themselves , to no avail. I really wanted this restaurant to succeed as there are so few soul food places in the area and certainly not enough minority owned businesses. So, I wanted them to succeed. But they have to do their part. If the business doesn't appreciate their customers, the customers won't appreciate and support the business. Regrettably, I can no longer support them.
On one occasion, I called in a to go order during the lunch hour. When I arrived, the order was ready. I paid and left. However, once I got to work, the triple stacked turkey club that I thought I ordered, was meager and slight. Certainly not worth the $10 I paid. I left a review on Yelp regarding this instance. Afterwards, I decided to give them a chance at redemption. Made the same call-in/pick-up order. When I arrived, the order was ready. . .not only ready but it was very well prepared. Ample meat, temperature was acceptable and was very tasty. Happy at the immediate transition, I was back 'on board'. HOWEVER, on 2 separate occasions following this, the call-in/pick up transaction failed. I called in to place the order. Arrived within 20 minutes as suggested. Only to find out the order had never been placed with the kitchen staff. Therefore, being on a very limited lunch hour, I left with nothing. Staff offered no apologies. . .just walked away and left me standing at the counter. This happened on TWO separate occasions. Again, I'm only trying to give them a chance to redeem themselves. On the 2nd attempt, after leaving again, with nothing. My husband called back to complain to a manager. . .only to be left on hold and no one ever responded.
As I stated, I really wanted this place to succeed. As a small business owner myself, I understand economics and needing the support of the community. However, ownership and responsibility of quality and customer service is on the shoulders of the business. In order to succeed, you have to make sure your customers are happy so they can spread the word and increase sales. Sadly, this establishment has not learned that. Read moreThis was in fact the worst experience I have ever had at a soul food restaurant. I got there at approximately 3:30p. Upon walking in the cashier explained we must order our food to go, they were closing at 4p, although the door said open til 6p. We looked at food. Bbq was severely burnt. Looked horrible. I asked what it was and the girl at the food didn't even know. She said it was ribs however it was actually burnt pork steaks. I asked for menu, they had none nor any pricing. I proceeded to order 6 chicken wings that she said came with 2 sides and cornbread. I ordered an additional side and supposedly my food order was $25. I was floored, I even assumed she charged me for 2 meals. Me and my dad ended up spending a total of $50. We ordered the same thing. I left looked at online menu. 6 smoked wings were priced at $12 on one website, $16 on another, but again I was charged $25. But it got worst. My chicken had not been cooked properly and had redness inside. My cabbage had just some parsley flakes as seasoning, are you serious??? What kind of soul food is this. I also ordered sweet potatoes. And they were a mess, I never tasted cinnamon, vanilla nor nutmeg. I demand my money back, all of it, I will be contacting the news media and BBB. As no pricing was presented, plus we never was issued a receipt either. Worst scam I've ever experienced. I will be following up with owner and all of my black affiliates. This business should be closed. Horrible food, guess pricing, 😒 and worst service as well. They didn't know what they were selling nor any prices either. Will never go back, ever. Read moreCant give negative stars but thats is the true score! My daughter treated to me to lunch and I suggested this place. More staff than customers when we arrived. Not impressed at first due to dried up old food waiting to be served in the steam area. Decided to get a Smash burger and fries and added greens and mac n chz. Hot mess. Waited 20 minutes and ate some of my sides which were very salty and dry and watched 2 young men in the cooking area walking around and stocking but no signs of any meat on the grill. Finally my daughter went up to the counter and the manager who was there told us they were working on it which was not true!! My daughter stood at the counter and asked again after 5 minutes and the 2 ladies at the counter told her it was coming. Meanwhile I have been watching the grill area from my table and i did not see neither one of the guys put anything on the grill. Finally asked for a refund but of course nobody in the restaurant knew how to do it. A young man in a chefs outfit attempted to help me after I complained again and he tried to do a refund but could not (per a phone call he made to the manager) until the business day was closed out. Finally, I left my name and phone number for a call back but needless to say, I will not go back there again and I will make sure and tell my family, church members, friends, co- workers and whoever else I see to not visit this place.
