Plaza Restaurant — Restaurant in Bertrand Township

Stumbled across this place a few weeks ago. Wish I'd found it a lot sooner. Not a whole lot in Niles so to find a (mostly) 24hr diner style restaurant as a pleasant surprise. The floor, ceiling and decor make me want to call Restaurant Impossible, but the food is great! Best place for biscuits n gravy and for chili, onion rings, fried mushrooms and seasoned fries. Their burgers are frozen but they grill the bun and they taste a lot like the old Bonnie Doon Bonnie Burgers. Lots of yummy pies and the huge cookies are homemade. I'd have to say that the evening staff is a lot friendlier than the noon staff. I stood there waiting for a greeting and to be helped for nearly five minutes while three of the staff looked at me a few times and walked away because they were overwhelmed. And as I waited at the counter for my take-out, I watched as they bickered about customers, tables and call-ins. But the evening staff is always right on it and smiling. Erin, Becky, PJ and Julie are all top-notch. Don't get me wrong, this place is a real gem. But, it does have some hiccups. Luckily, it's not...

We came it was busy . I understand that.. when tables became free took them forever to clean them they were too busy talking (we didn't seat our selfs because there's like 5-6 signs asking you to not seat yourself and to wait for table to be cleaned) . I see why people seat their self's .. they take forever to clean them.. so we got a table finally waiting 10-12 mins.. they saw more people coming in and quickly cleaned 3-4 tables and the people who just walked in got seated right away I guess a elderly standing and a person in a foot boot for broken foot isn't important enough. Was seated then was handed some menu on a ring no pictures no clue what's breakfast or not .. then the waitress come with our drinks and my family orders .. I'm still looking .. she gave me literally 45 seconds come back and ask what I want .. I said nothing.. I have no appetite. Please train your servers to not rush people especially giving them a menu on a ring and no pictures. .. don't rush me to order and leave so you can get as many...

Worst burger I’ve ever had! First of all it wasn’t what ordered, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with nothing but American cheese, ketchup and mustard. I got a dried out piece of meat with Mayo, which I despise, tomato and lettuce. The bun was crunchy. The second bacon cheeseburger I ordered was supposed to have everything with extra onions....no onions whatsoever! When I walked in there’s was no one waiting ahead of me, I could see my order sitting on the counter. Not one, but three employees looked directly at me, ignored me and went on their way. Not once, but several times, until I finally asked if one of them could give me my food! When one girl finally came over she carried on a conversation with another customer that walked up while she was supposed to be waiting on me. Rude!!! Unacceptable and after years of putting up with poor service I AM DONE!...
