We decided to try this restaurant for the first time during Valentine’s and our experience was okay nothing extra so first it started with the parking lot street was full and barely any spots left, once we arrived we had a reservation at 7pm and it seems like they gave it to another person with the same first name without verifying which made them gave our high top table reservations to someone else besides having a reservation we were pulled into the back on the “waiting area” mind you it’s next to the restrooms for 25 minutes until a table cleared. Once we were seated we waited an additional 5 minutes to give us a menu, we placed our drink order and it came fast the waiter didn’t give me a chance to tell him that we wanted an appetizer since while I was talking he went to another table. So once we were ready to order we placed an appetizer and our main entree few minutes passed we finished out drinks no follow up it took them 40 minutes to get the appetizer and not even 2 minutes after came our meal which didn’t even fit on the table since it was so small. Food looked good but once I tried my steak it was so salty I couldn’t finish it my partner didn’t like his chicken since there was barely potatoes or rice to go with it so we ate a bit got the bill and left. Definitely won’t be returning back since the whole experience wasn’t too standards the ladies next to us said they been waiting 2hrs to get their full Valentines meal course just to find out the ran out of what they wanted. Restaurant needs more staffing to operate when busy...
Read moreFirst of all, can I please state for the record that I am so thrilled that Berwyn has some great upscale restaurants adding to the mix here.
I saw La Malquerida advertised in the Berwyn magazine as a new business. I had even ran past it a few times, so it was on my to do list.
I was so excited when a friend wanted to have a girly catch-up dinner and I threw it out to her: do you wanna try this new place?
We made reservations through the website and I'm so glad that we did because while it wasn't crowded when we walked in, almost every table was full as we left!
We ordered five appetizers among the two of us and also sampled their drinks. Everything that we ordered was delicious. I really love the hospitality as well - probably five people came up to us throughout the night to check that we were doing OK!
This is a really nice place. I'm so glad it opened here. While us Berwyn folks are regular/casual people, I would definitely say to dress up a little more. You can see that a lot of people were considering this like a date night and people definitely wanted to match the ambience - which was beautiful.
Serious bonus points for the adorable outdoor patio, which reminded me of being in a restaurant in Chicago.
I'm bringing my husband next time. This is definitely a...
Read moreLa Marquerida is one of the best new restaurants we've been to recently! We had a nine-person dinner here. Not one dish fell short of anything but amazing. We tried quite a bit of what was on the menu, including some specials they were offering that night. Everything from the appetizers to the dessert was exquisite. The drinks did not disappoint either. Perfectly concocted. They were refreshing and delicious. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful. The aguachiles with the steak were definitely something new to try and the dish ended up being hands down one of the best we ever had. The halibut with crab risotto was out of this world. And the lamb chops were perfectly seared and seasoned. We also tried several other dishes (including the cochinita pibil and barbacoa), all of which were beautifully put together and tasted great. Lastly, the churro cheesecake with the dulce de lecce ice cream is out of this world. An absolute must-have! The service was outstanding. Everyone was very friendly and courteous. We're adding La Marquerida to our regular rotation and recommending everyone try this amazing new place. Definitely a great addition to the Berwyn area that we hope is around for a very long...
