Eagles Nest Restaurant — Restaurant in Bethalto

Date: September 8, 2013. Time: approximately 1:00 PM. This was first and will be last visit. Customers: Four adults, including two seniors, plus one toddler. Now I know why they call it the eagle's nest. They serve customers the contents of what is found at the bottom of an eagle's nest. Roast beef was tasteless, as-well-as the glob of hardened gravy piled a quarter of an inch thick on the mashed potatoes. The fried ham w/sweet potatoes wasn't so sweet; it was excessively salty and the sweet potatoes were too done. The chicken/dumplings was disgusting: one sliver of chicken and dumplings that could seal a leaky dike in Holland and overall a ton of needless sauce. The chilled water with ice tasted of 50 chemicals. Bus boys vacuuming while trying to choke down our meals. Waitress with bad attitude when a senior asked for Coca Cola and all the waitress could say is: "Pepsi"? One senior meal included desert; waitress never returned to offer the desert. Needed to hunt down the waitress to ask for check. Nasty slime on the table tops and chairs. White bread in clear cellophane was a tasteless gesture. Diminutive garden salad contained one sliver of tomato and dressing blobbed all over the salad. Dressing should be served on the side in a separate vessel. Food appears to have been produced in precooked format with the on-site preparation in a micro-wave oven by illegal...

Where to begin.... I don't care if a place is busy and I'm not a regular , just say I'll be with you in a minute or something . Nevermind the behind the times decor , we had a large party and had to be seated in the back so they were using those 6 ft plastic tables you use for outdoor events in that section. Talk about nasty ! They looked like they had been used outside regularly . So back to the lousy service , it started with the hostess then went on to the first server I guess? She went to get our drinks and only got half of them then disappeared and never came back lol grabbed the busboy and he got them he was by far the best worker there. The second waitress that stayed around was such a peach ! A rotten one ! Just so unhappy to be there it seemed . So damn rude ! Until my friends husband came in and she knew him because he is a regular there then she turned on the nice for him !!!! Oh yea and the food , NASTY! You can tell it came off a dirty grill and just don't eat it for...

I’ve been here countless times, and it was always really good and clean. However, we went this time and it was absolutely dirty and disgusting. The plates our food was served on were all visibly dirty, and even the coffee cups on the table were too. The plates had hard, dried, crusty food and liquid all along the edges. The waffle had burnt bits infused in it from a dirty waffle maker and the bottom was soggy. The hash browns were bland, gross, and came with a black pubiclike hair on the plate. The syrup container barely opened due to the stickiness of old syrup inside the pour spout. This place is not short of employees, so there’s absolutely no excuse. I felt like I wanted to puke and didn’t even eat my food but still had to pay for it. Just absolutely lost my appetite and didn’t feel safe eating here.
